Job Description
• The PMTCT & SI Coordinator will oversee the implementation of quality m2m Mentor Mother services to women and children at m2m facilities and surrounding communities in Lusaka and Southern Province; supervise all Team Leads and Mentor Mothers; and monitor and ensure quality improvement of m2m services. This position will be responsible for working closely with the Provincial and District Medical Officers, facility staff, and community stakeholders. Key Performance Areas:
Mentorship and Support Supervision
• Provision of mentorship and site level training and capacity-building sessions to Mentor Mothers and adolescent Peer Mentors. This includes educating healthcare them on current PMTCT guidelines, protocols, and best practices, as well as providing updates on new developments in the field.
• Provision of one-on-one mentoring sessions, clinical supervision, and ongoing feedback to help providers improve their skills and confidence in delivering PMTCT interventions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with health facility staff and other implementing partners working in the facility and the community, to maximize retention in care and adherence to treatment.
• Manage integration of Mentor Mother services into the health facilities and community activities.
• Develop and implement provincial site management workplan
• Manage performance of the Team Leads, Mentor Mothers and Adolescent Peer Mentors.
• Work with both Mentor Mothers and adolescents peer Mentors to raise awareness about PMTCT services, promote HIV testing and antenatal care attendance among pregnant women, and address stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
Performance Monitoring and Improvement
• Conduct site-level supervision and monitoring activities and monthly quality improvement and performance monitoring meetings at site level
• Monitor monthly facility and community-level data, compile and assess areas for quality/service improvement.
• Manage the use of electronic client management tools at facility and community and ensure that facility reports are submitted in time and that DHIS web tools are updated accordingly
• Consolidate monthly data and reports to the Senior Program Manager
• Conduct on-site capacity building of site staff and contribute to/co-facilitate in-service trainings.
• Work with other SI team members for IS troubleshooting and support services
• Participate in research studies, program evaluations, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Write stories of human interest, success stories and contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.
Provincial and District Engagement
• Represent project in provincial and district coordinating forums including managing strategic relationships with Provincial and District Medical Offices including RMNCH/PMTCT counterparts at the private sector level, provincial/district Ministry of Health level, and other implementing partners/stakeholders
• Participate in policy dialogues, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder meetings to highlight the importance of PMTCT and ensure that it remains a priority on the public health agenda.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree/diploma or equivalent in Nursing, Social Science, Public Health, or related field
• Working in the NGO sector with a focus on public health would be an advantage
• Minimum of four years’ field experience in public health work with a focus on RMNCH, PMTCT, or HIV/AIDS programming, with at least two years’ in a supervisory role
• Strong project management experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of/exposure to PMTCT/RMNCH policy and working knowledge of relevant MOH protocols
• Applied knowledge of MOH M&E systems and tools
• Experience in on-site technical supervision using programmatic tools
• Experience working within provincial and district health systems in Zambia, with experience in Central Province and with lay health care workers and peer educators preferred
• Experience in supporting use of electronic client management tools is preferred * Experience working on Commcare and DHIS web tools will be an added advantage
