JOB DETAILS:
• Medlink Services Limited is a Medical Scheme Administration company that specializes in the implementation of cost efficient and effective employee medical scheme administration services alongside Wellness Programs. We are now looking to hire a Paramedic who will undertake emergency and non-emergency medical/trauma response care 24 hours a day. Qualified individuals possessing the requisite experience are invited to apply.

Job Purpose
• To provide expedient and effective emergency services in administering basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, enroute to the hospital and pre-hospital setting in accordance with the Health Professionals Council of Zambia’s (HPCZ) Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate ambulance equipment and respond to emergency calls.
• Lead and coordinate the team responding to an emergency.
• Evaluate the patient’s condition on the scene and perform preliminary emergency care.
• Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments (first aid, CPR, administering injections and oxygen etc.) or surgical procedures.
• Use tech equipment and tools to stabilize patients or provide immediate treatment
• Monitor patient’s condition enroute to the hospital.
• Collaborate with interested parties (police, firefighting unit, doctors etc.)
• Write and submit concrete and accurate reports on incidents.
• Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards.
• Keep abreast with new treatment and medical procedures through continuous training.
• Attend to all callouts in a confidential and professional manner.
• Ensure the emergency vehicle, equipment and accessories are in a constant state of preparedness after pre- starts.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly standard tests on ER equipment in accordance with the SOPs and OEMs specifications/manuals.
• Compiling weekly and quarterly reports to the supervisor to reflect emergency preparedness, equipment availability and the general status of emergency.
• Contribute to availability of Emergency Response stock and equipment by following all procedures for correct usage, replacement, care, and maintenance.

Knowledge And Technical Skills
• Proven experience as a paramedic.
• Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and medications.
• Ability to stay calm and make the right decisions in adverse conditions.
• Adaptable with a great deal of stamina.
• Excellent working knowledge of medical equipment and devices.
• Integrity and compassion towards human pain.
• Certified CPR Instructor.
• Computer literate in Microsoft ‘Word’ and Microsoft ‘Excel’.

Qualifications & Experience
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 credits.
• Diploma in Emergency Medical Care
• Must be registered and licensed with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
• At least two (2) years’ experience working as a paramedic in a medical setting is required.
• Previous roadside (response vehicle) experience is preferable.
