JOB DETAILS:
Private Household Cook
Job purpose
Private household seeks a cook who can prepare meals and snacks according to household members’ tastes and dietary requirements. S/he must be able willing to learn new recipes, follow instructions in cooking and maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the kitchen.

Responsibilities
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (peel and chop vegetables, cut meat, gut, and fillet fish, etc).
• Prepare meals according to employer’s tastes and dietary restrictions.
• Be able to prepare both traditional and international dishes.
• Have knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including baking, grilling, boiling, frying.
• Serve meals and snacks to employer and their guests.
• Ensure cooking utensils, equipment, food preparation areas and the entire kitchen are kept clean, sanitized, and tidy.
• Follow all laid down guidelines for food and kitchen hygiene.
• Monitor and request for food and ingredients.
• Shop for food and ingredients when need arises.
• Plan menus and ensure that requisite ingredients are requested a week in advance.
• Plan and prepare food for dinner parties, luncheons, functions, and other social events.

Requirements
• 3 years’ proven experience as cook
• Experience using modern kitchen equipment, cookware, and bakeware
• Able to multi-task
• Time conscious
• Full grade 12 certificate and fluent in English
• Qualification in Food Production/catering added advantage.
