The Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD) is a vibrant, membership driven, media association dedicated to sensitizing and equipping the media and children to cover child rights and development issues. It works with government, civil society, cooperating partners, children and journalists to ensure that the voices of children and their issues are captured in the media to achieve policy change and implementation. Our vision is a society where children’s rights are understood, prioritised and enforced.
MNCRD wishes to invite qualified individuals to apply for the following position:
Position: Program Coordinator – Child Focused Social Accountability (x1 position)
Duty Station: Lusaka
Role Purpose:
The Program Coordinator – Child Focused Social Accountability will coordinate the implementation of the Inclusive Participation in Planning, Implementation and Monitoring of children’s rights in Zambia program, anchored on integrating child rights governance themes of good governance delivering children’s rights, public investment in children and monitoring and demanding child rights with the other thematic areas to ensure children benefit from an improved and sustainable programs aimed at protecting and promoting child rights. S/he will be responsible for coordinating MNCRD program through direct interventions. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Programmes Manager on all the Child Focused Social Accountability projects and ensure smooth implementation of the program.
The incumbent will be reporting to Program Manager.

Key Areas of Accountability:
• Ensure all program activities are implemented timely in line with detailed implementation plan;
• Ensure the preparation of program reports (monthly, quarterly and annual reports) as required (Financial and Narrative) in line with the organization / partner reporting guidelines;
• Coordinate and support MNCRD implementation of program plans and processes to ensure achievement of objectives;
• Support District Coordinators detailed implementation planning for the program in line with donor requirement and MNCRD guidelines;
• Document MNCRD and partners experiences focusing, best practices, the results achieved and any other experiences to inform learning;
• With support from the Executive Director, Program Manager, Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning, Programmes team, Finance and other support functions coordinate the development and design of capacity building plans for implementing partners;
• Contribute to the long-term strategic planning of the program; review and systematic follow-up on Districts Coordinators reports (Financial and Narrative);
• Work closely with the partners on the implementation of the capacity building plans, provide support and mentorship to the district coordinators and partners including the implementation;
• Provide regular feedback on stipulated outcomes and processes to ensure achievement of objectives through consistently supporting program planning, budgeting and tracking of expenditure;
• Ensure the timely disbursements of funds to District Coordinators including ensuring efficient utilization of funds;
• Ensure timely procurement, administration and logistical processes for the program are within the Standard Procedure;
• Strengthen collaborations with CSO networks, private sectors and government to drive change for children beyond the program;
• Identify red flags to ensure that they are timely escalated and resolved;
• Work closely with program and partner staff to ensure that child safeguarding, child rights programming, gender equality and child participation are integrated into all aspects of MNCRD programming, including the components of non-discrimination and climate change;
• Actively participate and contribute to Child Centered Social Accountability, Public Investment in Children and Child Rights Reporting coordination meetings to ensure a child rights focus;
• Contribute to the development of an effective system of monitoring and evaluation for the program;
Qualifications and Experience
• University degree in Social Sciences or relevant area;
• At least 2 years of relevant project management experience with right-based issues; preferably children’s rights within civil society sector;
• Strong knowledge of children’s rights;
• Demonstrated skills in the design of human rights projects;
• Good analytical and report writing skills demonstrating narrative, analytical, design, narrative and graphical data analysis and financial accountability/;
• Demonstrated ability to set and achieve objectives;
• English language proficiency a must and use local languages will be an added advantage;
• Strong communication (verbal and writing skills), interpersonal and representational skills;
• Flexible and adaptable to dynamic changes and fast-paced work environment;
• Ability to work with minimum supervision;
• Knowledge of Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• The post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience;
Child Safeguarding:
The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people. The candidate should not have had cases of child abuse and will ensure that child safeguarding is prioritized within social accountability work.
