JOB DETAILS:
PATH seeks a Temporary Program Officer to support the introduction of Malaria vaccine in Zambia by helping submission of vaccine requirement to GAVI by 23rd September 2024. He/she will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring the vaccine introduction process.
General outline of the responsibilities:
• Oversees the entire vaccine introduction process.
• Ensures timely and successful implementation.
• Coordinates with various stakeholders: government agencies, healthcare providers, and community leaders
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive vaccine introduction plan and strategies, aligning with national and international guidelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach.
• Monitor and evaluate vaccine introduction progress, identifying areas for improvement and prepare report to help the team stay on track.
• Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation plans for the vaccine introduction process.
• Propose training and capacity-building programs for healthcare workers to be used immediately after the vaccine introduction has been done.
• Ensure compliance with national and international regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical assistance and support to EPI and NMEC teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in public health. A master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field will be an added advantage
• At least 3-5 years of experience in implementing immunization programs, or public health management.
• Strong understanding of vaccine introduction principles, immunization policies, and national and international guidelines especially in low- and middle-income countries.
• Excellent project management, coordination, and communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare providers, and community leaders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with data management systems.
• Knowledge of WHO and UNICEF guidelines and recommendations.
• Familiarity with Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and other global immunization initiatives.
