Overview
The National Science and Technology Council is a Statutory Body established by an Act of Parliament, under the Science and Technology Act No. 26 of 1997. Its mandate is to promote science and technology in order to create wealth and improve the quality of life in Zambia
The Council is looking for suitable candidates who are self-driven, passionate, experienced persons to fill in the following positions:
Position: Programme Assistant
Purpose of The Job:
To assist and facilitate the promotion, development and application of Science, Technology and Innovation in the country.
Key Result Area
Principal Accountabilities (Main Duties)
Promotion and Advocacy
• Assists and coordinates effectively advocacy programmes in order to popularize science and technology
• Facilitate effectively the promotion of science and mathematics Promotion and among the youth
• Assist and Facilitate effectively the development of linkages between science education and technical education; entrepreneurship and vocational training.
Gender and Youth
• Promote effectively women and youth participation in Science Gender and youth and Technology development and application in order to ensure gender and youth equity in Science and Technology
Science and Technology Forum
• Assist and facilitate the hosting of Science and Technology Technology Forum in order to develop linkages between industry and R&D centres
Awards
• Facilitate effectively the setting up and operationalisation of various merit award schemes in recognition of scientific contribution at various levels Publication
Publication
• Undertakes effectively regular publication of science and technology promotion through newspapers, brochures, leaflets, radio and TV, including production of documentaries.
Required Qualification and Experience
• Diploma (Public Relations, Journalism or, Mass Communication)
• Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 ‘O levels with credit or better in Mathematics and English
• 2 years relevant working experience
• Computer literacy: Ms Word, Power Point, Publisher and Excel
• Organizing grant programmes/activities
• Excellent written and Oral communication
• Excellent public relations
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 24
Level of Education: Associate Degree
