Our client, a government ministry implementing a donor-funded project in Lusaka, requires a dynamic, Innovative and results-oriented professional with a high level of integrity, to join the project team on full time basis, as:
Project Accountant

Job Purpose
To provide accounting and financial management support, in order to ensure efficient and effective financial management, control and reporting for the project, and strict compliance with the donor's procurement and financial management regulations and procedures, prescribed in the project agreement. He or she will provide support in the design and implementation of an appropriate accounting and financial management system and procedures for efficient and effective implementation of the approved activities, and achievement of the project's expected results, objectives and goals, in a professional, accountable and compliant manner. The successful candidate will report to the Project's Imprest Accounting Officer and work closely with other project team members and relevant departments of the beneficiary ministry

The successful candidate must have the following:
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field of study from a recognized university Institution, or a professional qualification with ZICA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
• A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
• Additional qualification in purchasing and supply management will be an added advantage.
• Membership to the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants[ZICA).
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English Language.

Experience and Attributes
• A minimum of six (6) years of post-graduation working experience, five (5) of which should be in the field of finance and contract management;
• Experience in budgeting, accounting and finance in the public sector and/or a parastatal,
• Experience in donor-funded projects or programmes, and good knowledge and understanding of their procurement accounting and financial management rules and procedures.
• A minimum of four (4) years of working experience in European Union (EU) funded projects/programmes, with good knowledge and understanding of their procurement, accounting and financial management regulations, rules and procedures.
• A thorough command of specialised integrated electronic accounting software packages.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS) package-Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
• Effective client and contract management skills
