Terms of Reference for the recruitment of a Project Coordinator for the Youth Awareness on Gender Equality and Violence Free Families
Association de la Jeunesse pour la Promotion des Droits de l’Homme et développement (AJPRODHO–JIJUKIRWA) is a non-governmental organization working to improve the rights of disadvantaged youth, women, and children in Rwanda through Human Rights promotion and protection. AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA was founded in 1997 by students attending the National University of Rwanda. The organization was formed as a response to the Genocide against the Tutsi to protect future students from similar forms of manipulation. Since its founding, AJPRODHO has transitioned from a small student association to a nationally active non-governmental organization with programs in more than 17 districts spread over 4 provinces of Rwanda and Kigali city. The primary focus of the organization is Human Rights promotion, protection, research, advocacy, economic empowerment and civil society strengthening.
Project Coordinator (1 vacancy)
Reports to: The Programs Manager.
Staff reporting to the position: 2 Field officers
Purpose:
The role of the Project Coordinator is overall coordination of YAGEVFA project activities including among others:
Planning, implementation, and Coordination
1. Oversee all project activities planning at District and National level in consultation with field staff on district-level activities and with line management on national level activities.
2. Steer the development of monthly, quarterly and annual project implementation plans
3. Ensure effective and efficient of project activities implementation at district and national level with the support and collaboration field and head office support staff.
4. Initiate and Maintain good and productive relations with boundary partners and stakeholders of the project with AJPRODHO
5. Coordinate all research, advocacy and capacity building interventions of the project with the support of the programs department
6. Design the Terms of Reference for project activities to be implemented on the need basis
Budget:
1. With the support of the finance department ensure that project funds are expended as planned to achieve project objectives
2. Work with the finance team in budgeting for project activities and ensuring execution of budget in compliance with AJPRODHO and donor regulations.
3. Work with the finance team to ensure timely implementation of activities and execution of the project budget.
Project Monitoring, Reporting, Communication and Visibility
1. Compile and submit periodical project reports and updates according to the project grant contract, AJPRRODHO, and Government requirements, and whenever the need arises
2. Work with the M&E and communication teams to develop relevant tools and efficient documentation, reporting, and visibility of the project performance.
Coordination
1. Support AJPRODHO MANAGEMENT in maintaining effective relations with the donor
2. Supervise/Coordinate implementation of weekly plans and reporting on activities of field officers on a day-to-day basis.
3. Any other duties that may be assigned to him/ her by an appropriate authority of AJPRODHO Management
Location:
• The Project Coordinator will be based in Kigali with frequent travels to AJPRODHO YAGEVGA project operational district ( Nyagatare)
Educational Qualification, Experience and other skills required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Social Sciences or any other related field with a minimum experience of 5 years in project Management OR a Masters Degree in related subjects; preferably Human Rights, and Gender Studies among others with at least 2 years of experience.
• Excellent computer skills with proven knowledge of Ms. Office packages
• Excellent written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda languages is a must.
• Good skills in communication, advocacy, data analysis and reporting (visualization and narration on gender, children, youth and women
• Excellent knowledge and use of social media
• Good knowledge of community communication mechanisms
• Knowledge of the Rwandan gender and women' rights policy context
• Able to multi-task, cope under pressure and respect/meet deadlines
