JOB DETAILS:
Our client is looking to hire a remarkable leader who is excellent at what s(he) does and a great fit to the organisation's vision and mission, to catalyse the creation of 100 world class schools across Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) by 2050. The Project Director will be based in Lusaka.
Our client's key objective is to have a transformational impact on African economies in the 21st century by substantially expanding the quantity of outstanding African leaders by providing world class secondary schools.
Zambia has been identified as the preferred location for the first school and once completed, the Project Director will be expected to lead the creation of future schools in Sub Saharan Africa.

Key Responsibilities
• Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Project Director will be the most senior member in Africa, initially leading the creation of the first school in Zambia. Key responsibilities will involve the following:
• Designing a detailed plan and overseeing its successful delivery by providing leadership, strategically managing risks, monitoring finances and ensuring each phase of the project starts and ends on schedule.
• Ensuring regulatory set up and legal compliance.
• Designing various operational policies and procedures including finance, procurement and overseeing their implementation.
• Recruiting academic and non academic staff.
• Designing and overseeing child safeguarding processes.
• Identifying expert partners such as property developers, procurement specialists, etc. to support project implementation.
• Overseeing construction work.
• Building a compendium of best practice approaches to be implemented in other schools projects.

Job specifications
The successful individual will have the following attributes:
• Be a senior operating executive with experience in building entities with complex bricks and mortar operations and logistics.
• High level of integrity and ability to work at C- suite level.
• A degree from a reputable university. A masters degree would be an added advantage.
• Have demonstrable experience managing P&L.
• Have professional experience in a world class international organisation.
• Have passion and a visionary leader.
• Professional work experience in secondary schools would be an added advantage.
