Job Summary
JOB OVERVIEW
UCSF seeks the Advisor to work on an HIV Recency project in Zambia. The project is being implemented by Ministry of Health (MOH) in Zambia and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Zambia (CDC-Zambia). The purpose of this project is to provide important surveillance information on new infections with an aim of guiding HIV prevention efforts in Zambia.
The Advisor will work closely with UCSF Recency Program Managers, MOH, and CDC-Zambia. Duties will include: 1) overseeing daily on-site implementation of all project activities including lab and facility engagement, data collection, and oversight of in-country staff at subcontractor; 2) providing technical, administrative, and logistical support including pre-testing and refining tools, coordinating trainings, data collection, data analysis, study documentation, and ensuring protocol adherence before, during, and after the survey; 3) maintaining constant communication and provide regular updates to Recency Program Managers and implement feedback.
The individual will report to UCSF Recency Program Manager while working closely with MOH, CDC-Zambia, and other Recency stakeholders. .

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in public health or social sciences (anthropology, demography, geography, sociology, psychology, or other) OR health professional with tertiary qualifications, such as nursing, clinical medicine, or medical laboratory technology and three+ years of related experience; and / or equivalent experience / training
• Graduate degree in related major (listed above)
• Minimum three years of experience (after graduation) in project management of large-scale research in international settings
• Thorough understanding of HIV recency testing in PEPFAR settings
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in international settings
