JOB DETAILS:
The Regulatory Pharmacist will oversee all regulatory and statutory compliance issues for the newly established pharmaceutical wholesaler that the entity is setting up in country. He/she will deal with regulatory and statutory compliance matters, ensure registration of the business and its products and also act as liaison person with regulatory authorities and key customers (medical practitioners and specialists).

Duties and responsibilities:
• Setting up and licensing of pharmaceutical wholesaler according to the local ZAMRA requirements for distribution of medicines and related substances;
• Ensure regulatory and statutory compliance of the business;
• Identification and management of manufacturers for product registration;
• Compilation of dossiers for registration;
• Formulation and implementation of the company’s products development strategy;
• Registration of pharmaceuticals and personal care products;
• Liaison with the regulatory authorities;
• Monitoring and maintaining regulatory compliance;
• Warehouse management and stock control;
• Assist the Sales Manager to identify product gaps in the market and develop supply chains to cover the identified gaps;
• Engagement with medical practitioners and specialists to motivate use of company products;
• Attend annual conventions and seminars linked with development, improvement or introduction of new molecules/ trends in medicine;
• Custodian of Pharmacovigilance records to do with drug safety, collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention of adverse effects with pharmaceutical products distributed by the company in liaison with the manufacturers;
• Supervise the Pharmacy Technician in his day to day activities;
• Any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor;
• Engagement and development of relationships with key stakeholders, government departments and regulatory authorities; and
• Assist in increasing company’s product basket annually to achieve the set turnover and volume targets.

Requirements:
• Degree in Pharmacy or relevant field;
• Valid license to practice;
• Experience and knowledge of the Good Distribution Practice landscape in the country;
• Knowledge and experience in the general operations of a pharmaceutical wholesaler;
• Proven experience as a Regulatory Pharmacist or similar role;
• Experience in product registration and regulatory compliance issues;
• Knowledge of business process and functions (Warehousing, stock management, finance, procurement, operations etc.);
• Ability to engage and develop relationships with key stakeholders, government departments and regulatory authorities;
• Ability to develop relationships with key customers for the business;
• Strong analytical ability;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Outstanding organizational and administrative skills;
• Problem-solving aptitude; and
• Ability to manage a start-up business and work independently.
