CONSULTANCY TO UNDERTAKE: RESOURCE MOBILIZATION

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: IGMU/28/08/2024

1. BACKGROUND
The Non-governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) was established in 1985 to play a leadership and critical role in the promotion of women’s rights and the empowerment of women in Zambia. As a network organization, NGOCC’s mandate is to coordinate and mobilize members in a more concerted manner for advocacy and capacity-building programs aimed at advancing gender equity and equality and the overall status of women in Zambia.

A society where women are empowered and fully participate in social, cultural, economic and political development.

1.2 OUR MISSION
To promote women’s empowerment for gender equity and equality through coordinated advocacy, capacity development of Member Organisations and linkages with government, local and international partners.

2.0 PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The purpose of the assignment is to:-

  • Drive fundraising efforts to secure the resources needed to advance the work of NGOCC.
  • Build and maintain sustainable funding through strategic partnerships with funding organisations, working closely with the Management Team and other departments to ensure the organisation’s projects and core operations are appropriately and sustainably resourced.

3.0 SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The Consultant shall implement the following:-

  • Develop policies and procedures that reflect ethical fundraising principles and practices.
  •  Collaborate with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the broader staff team to create a Resource Mobilisation Strategy and Plan which increases revenues to support the strategic priorities of the organisation.
  • Develop compelling proposals, and other grant materials for International Cooperating Partners (ICPs), Foundations, Private Sector, Philanthropists, and other potential funders.
  • Research funding prospects and create a comprehensive database of funding partners for core funding and project funding which are applicable to NGOCC with an annual calendar for calls for proposals.
  • Development of creative, strategic, and meaningful appeals, campaigns, and activities to engage new and existing donors both online and in-person.
  • Work with the NGOCC Communications Unit to develop a comprehensive communications plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organisation.
  • Work with the NGOCC Communications Unit to develop high-quality donor communications materials that demonstrate deep knowledge of the organization’s programs and promote its Mission, (e.g. solicitation materials, thank you letters, annual reports)

4.0 COMPOSITION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE OF THE CONSULTANT (TEAM)

  • Sound knowledge of the existing local, national, regional and global funding community and an exceptional understanding of funders’ needs and interests.
  • Good project proposal writing skills with a demonstrable track record of having developed winning concepts and proposals.
  • Highly analytical with high-level strategic thinking and networking capabilities
  • Knowledge of fundraising management in not-for-profit organisations
  • Excellent communication skills and should be a persuasive communicator, orally and in writing with good listening, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Passionate about the work of the organization and excited to help it secure new and sustainable funding streams
  • Resourceful, innovative, optimistic and flexible to embrace new opportunities and the evolving needs of a growing organisation.
  • Proficient in the use of ICT including MS Office

c. Technical proposal with indicative work plan showing Consultant’s planned approach to the assignment
