JOB DETAILS:
The University of Rwanda is a public institution of Higher learning committed to support the development of the country through the generation and advancement of knowledge and innovation among other core activities. In this framework, the University through its Single Project Implementation Unit (UR-SPIU) is establishing a Global Surgical Hub in collaboration with the University of Birmingham on the funding of National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. In this regards, UR-SPIU calls for qualified and motivated candidate to apply on the following positions for the period of one year renewable based on performance.
RESEARCH NURSE (1 post)
Duties and Responsibilities
The research nurse will be required to:
Organize field activities of the Hub;
Contribute substantial input to development of work plans, research questions, project concept notes, and field research guides;
Assist in the planning and management of monthly “spoke visits”;
Organize and coordinate meetings, staff meetings, workshops, meetings with stakeholders and any other events relevant to the Hub’s programs;
Assist in identification and development of possible areas for Hub’s partnership with local organizations, universities, research institutions, etc;
Document and organize archive of Hub’s activities;
Assist in authoring research reports, briefing notes, policy papers, and other materials as required;
Help to develop and coordinate research dissemination and follow-up activities, including providing substantive advice on the future direction of the program; and
Perform any other duties as required.
Supervisor: The research nurse will report to Hub Manager
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Have a Bachelor degree in nursing science and be registered with NCNM (as a must), having a higher level degree (health related) will be an added value;
Have at least 5 years of relevant experience working in the field of medical
Research and training for BSc holders and 3 years of experience for MSc holders.
Be fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of French will be an added value;
Have proven record of successful interaction with individuals from a diverse array of backgrounds, including government officials, development partners, researchers, etc.
Have a demonstrable experience in organizing and coordinating multilevel events and field research activities;
Have knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel;
Have experience in program management and logistics;
Possess punctuality, intellectual curiosity, willingness to take initiative, multi­tasking, and willingness to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
