Key Roles of a Research Supervisor
• Ensure student feel more confident when working with you
• Guide on structuring the thesis and dissertation
• Agree to have the goal together
• Listen to student problem
• Enforce and help student to overcome the obstacles
• Guide student to gain high level of knowledge
• Give student an emotional support
• Set up the plan/manage time with students’ agreement
• Guide to read related documents and researches
• Provide the experts and researcher related to the field of study
• Meeting schedule and contract set up based on students’ agreement
• Train student to present and defend
• Aware of deadlines
• Guide/direct student for the research publication
• Train student how to think critically

In summary research supervisor should be able to provide leadership skills in mixture of three-skill approach; technical skill, human skill, and conceptual skill to help a student in producing the best outcome.
