JOB DETAILS:
Kingfisher Journeys is looking for an experienced Reservations and Operations Manager to help increase sales and deliver excellent customer experiences on our activities and tours.
The successful person will understand outdoor adventures (which is much more than gorillas and safaris) and have at least two years experience booking, arranging and managing tours for an inbound tour operator in Rwanda.
You should apply for this role if you have relevant experience including:
• A Degree or Diploma in Tourism Management or Operations (not just hospitality)
• At least two years experience working for a Rwandan Tour Operator as a Reservations and I or Operations manager
• Comprehensive knowledge and personal experience from visiting Rwandan hotels, activities, restaurants and experiences
• Quoting for and booking tours using booking software and procedures
• Carrying out effective business administration and accurate filing.
And a broad range of skills including:
• Critical thinking and natural problem-solving
• Superb personal organisation and attention to detail
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills
• Selling techniques
• Cultural understanding of high end, mid range and budget western tourists and their priorities
• Astute interpersonal skills
• Microsoft Office (specifically Advanced Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Business use of social media including Facebook, Twitter and lnstagram
• Fluency in English, Kinyarwanda and ideally also French and German
Your primary responsibilities will be to:
• Respond to inquiries, issue estimates, and quotes
• Assist customers to make sales and then after confirmation manage their bookings.
• Manage customer payments
• Accurately manage third party bookings
• Proactively promote the company's activities to local clients
• Upsell trips and additional activities
• Carry out advance planning
• Manage multi-day bookings
• Follow up after bookings
Location: Based in Kigali in a shared office. Other locations are possible.
Full time with flexibility to work some weekends and public holidays.
Eligibility: You must be a Rwandan Citizen or have a Rwandan Work Permit.
