JOB DETAILS:

NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, a general insurance company, has been operating in Zambia since 1st October 1997, and has branches in Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Livingstone and Chipata. NICO Insurance Zambia Limited is a member of NICO Group of Companies operating in Malawi, and Sanlam through Sanlam Emerging Markets. The Company is now seeking to identify a qualified individual to be engaged as Risk and Compliance Manager.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Risk and Compliance Manager shall be responsible for Risk and Compliance obligations for the company.

Main duties will include the following:
• Review and update of company Policies and Procedures documents applicable to the delivery of Nico Insurance Zambia Limited services, products, and projects.
• Identification of risk and compliance exposures of both the long- and short-term operational and strategic plans.
• Review, update, and monitoring of the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework.
• Develop the Annual Risk and Compliance Plan which governs the operations of the function.
• Develop an action plan to monitor and ensure the successful implementation of strategy within NICO Insurance Zambia Limited.
• Identify and evaluate risks and develop risk mitigation recommendations for submission to the office of the Chief Executive Officer, Group Head of Risk and the Audit Committee.
• Reviews and signs off the risk factors for new and existing projects and products to ensure that all risks have been considered and addressed.
• Oversee and manage the escalation and remediation of identified risks with relevant department heads.
• Prepare reports on emerging risks, trends and developments and presents these to the Chief Executive Officer, Group Head of Risk and the Audit Committee
• Develop, maintain, and control the NICO Insurance risk register and audit tracker.
• Works as part of the salvages disposal committee to ensure that salvages are properly disposed of.
• Develop, and ensure that the implementation and monitoring of the Anti-Money Laundering Compliance program, takes appropriate action to address breaches and submits the Anti-Money Laundering Suspicion Report to the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).
• Ensures, through the Line Managers, the timely completion and submission of compliance self-assessments.
• Receive reports on suspicious activities, informs Group Internal Audit and provides support in investigating and closing the findings.
• Coordinates and develops the Business Continuity Management and Recovery Plan with the relevant departmental heads.

Requirements:
• Have a first degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Economics or equivalent.
• Have a professional qualification in ACCA, CIMA, ZiCA or equivalent.
• Have a minimum of four (4) years in Audit, Finance, or similar at managerial level.
• Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures.
• High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
• Sound independent judgement and high integrity.
• Paid-up member of ZiCA and ACCA or CIMA.
