PURPOSE
WfWI – Rwanda seeks a dynamic and experienced candidate for the position of Social Empowerment Officer in charge of GBV Prevention. The Social Empowerment Officer (SEO) supports the USAID GBV Prevention Program Manager and the Social Empowerment department to ensure the successful implementation of the program, in accordance with organizational guidelines and procedures. The SEO will also support the Social Empowerment Officer to directly supervise the SE Trainers to ensure the quality and consistency of training content, methodology and delivery on activities related to GBV.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist and work with WfWI colleagues to develop and finalize organization priorities, goals and objectives and work plans related to GBV program.
  • Together with WfWI staff, develop training and other program tools (curricula, etc.) for GBV activities
  • Under the PM supervision, coordinate GBV activities, including meetings and trainings those in communities where WfWI works and other activities such as conferences/workshops.
  • Support the Program Manager to collect and deliver all required data on the program to headquarters.
  • Organize follow up activities
  • Responsible of regular documentation of success stories and best practices through the implementation of GBV program.
  • Contribute to the improvement of content of the SE Curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain good relations and coordination with local leaders, community groups, partner organizations and program participants.
  • Compile and submit in a timely manner to Program Manager required reports on planned activities.
  • Support SEO to coordinate SE campaigns including HIV/AIDS, Nutrition and Hygiene, family planning and GBV prevention… are well conducted.
  • Meet with other staff from different departments as needed and/or per request and maintain a professional working relationship with staff and public.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or another relevant discipline.
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience, preferably within the NGO environment.
  • Proven experience with teaching or training, including knowledge of adult education a group facilitation methods
  • Planning, budgeting, and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build rapport with communities and participants.
  • Have experience in managing GBV projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel and spend significant time in the field.
  • Language fluency (written and spoken) in English and Kinyarwanda required; language skills in French an added advantage.
    • Good knowledge of computers and experience in working with all Microsoft Office programs.
