JOB DETAILS:
Our client, an Environmental Conservation Organisation is seeking to employ a qualified Senior Procurement Officer.

As the Senior Procurement Officer, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage all aspects of the procurement process within the organization. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that goods, services, and materials are sourced, negotiated, and acquired efficiently, while maintaining cost-effectiveness and compliance with relevant policies and regulations. In this senior-level role, you will lead a team of procurement professionals and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier relationship management.
• Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/vendors based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities. Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favourable pricing and service agreements. Continuously monitor and assess supplier performance and manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Procurement Processes: Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, including requisitioning, purchasing, inventory management, and delivery. Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and systems to streamline operations and ensure compliance with regulations and ethical practices.
• Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage procurement budgets and forecasts. Monitor and analyze expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimize procurement processes.
• Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to a team of procurement professionals. Set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a positive and productive work environment. Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, operations, and legal departments, to understand their procurement requirements and ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies within the procurement process. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and legal/regulatory changes that may impact procurement activities.
• Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including spending analysis, supplier performance, and cost savings achieved. Use data and analytics to identify areas for improvement and drive data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Professional CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with a minimum of 5-7 years in a senior or managerial role.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, policies, and regulations.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
