Agriterra’s mandate is to professionalize farmers’ organizations and cooperatives worldwide with advice from experts from the Dutch agricultural sector. Agriterra’s agri-advice team supports farmer-led economic development across Africa, Asia and Latin America, in the belief that strong farmers’ organizations and cooperatives lead to more participation, economic growth and a better distribution of income.
Agriterra focuses on three approaches: Farmer-led Businesses, Farmer Services and Farmer Lobby. Agriterra believes the success of farmer organizations and cooperatives lies in the combination of these approaches. Bankable cooperatives that are ripe for investment are the basis for economic development. Services provision to farmers is enhanced by organizational development, improvement of extension services and supply chain development. Finally, a good business climate for farmers is reinforced through effective lobbying by farmer organizations and cooperatives.
Knowledge sharing, training and exchange of experience are part of Agriterra’s DNA. Uniquely, Agriterra provides expertise and experienced experts from the Dutch agribusiness sector for every level of an organization: board, management, staff and members. Agriterra provides practical answers to concrete questions, whether they concern primary production and entrepreneurship, the financial and operational management of an organization, the establishment of financially sustainable service provision to members, or governance and leadership. Agriterra provides a complete package of advice, training and exchange with a strong focus on increasing the added value of cooperatives and organizations to their farmer members. This includes forging connections with other kinds of agribusinesses and the financial sector, creating access to knowledge & finance. .

Job Responsibilities:
• Facilitate and accompany peer-to-peer advisory assignments conducted by Agriterra staff and experts from the Dutch agribusiness sector in support of farmers’ organizations and cooperatives in Zambia.
• Conduct scopings and cooperative assessments of potential clients in Zambia.
• Advise and train clients in the following areas:
o Governance & Leadership
o Financial Management
o Business development
• Monitor progress of clients based on jointly established yearly targets
• Support and check on client activity plans, budgets and timely reporting on project results.
• Network with key stakeholders in the agricultural sector (government, donors, NGOs, private sector) for collaboration
• Report to the Agriterra Zambia country team.


Job Skills:
• Good advising, coaching and training and facilitation skills
• Strong analytical skills and commercial insight
• Good presentation and communication skills
• Good communication and reporting skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English. Proficiency in other Zambian local languages is an added advantage.


  Job Qualifications:
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Agriculture, Agricultural extension, Agribusiness management, Agricultural Economics
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Agricultural extension, Agribusiness management or Agriculture Economics
• Good understanding of the agricultural sector;agricultural extension and agricultural cooperative landscape in Zambia
• Good understanding and proven experiences working with or r at farmer organizations/cooperatives/ associations in Zambia
• Relevant experience providing and organizing trainings to smallholder farmers and farmer organizations/cooperatives, achieving lasting results
• Large network within the agricultural sector in Zambia
• Experience in project management
• Prior experience working with or for an international organisationispreferred
• Knowledge of agricultural market information systems is an added advantage
