JOB DETAILS:
Linum Consult’s client is an international firm well-established in Africa. They are urgently looking for a Technical Support Representative specialising in Komatsu Electric Dump Trucks to join their team on a 1-year FIFO contract of 8 weeks on, 4 weeks off in Zambia.

Responsibilities
• Performing maintenance and repairs of mining dumper trucks and their components, including diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs
• Issuing technical follow-up reports
• Complying with the customer’s safety regulations and standards; consistently monitoring that Tag-Out and Lock-Out procedures are being followed
• Managing the availability of the Komatsu Diesel Electric Driven Dump Trucks, ensuring that targets are reached and constantly maintained. Proactively proposing action plans for when there is a lack of availability
• Providing technical support for the product lines on the customers’ sites, researching, and troubleshooting issues
• Ensuring that all required warranty information is provided in a prompt and timely manner. Assisting the technical team with compiling data and information required
• Carrying out inspections and audits of the equipment for proper performance, and determining any faults or malfunctions
• Applying hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical knowledge to equipment and issues
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
• Keeping up to date with the industry, customer, product developments, and technical best practices
• Building strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction

Profile
• At least 5 years as a workshop technician, with 2-3 years spent in an equivalent position
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Mechanical Automotive or four years of apprenticeship experience
• Demonstrable experience of around 5 years in Diesel-Electric Driven Dumper Trucks (Komatsu 860E, 930E, 960E or equivalent). Candidates without Komatsu experience will not be considered
• Strong understanding of basic mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems
• Good understanding of the specifications, applications, operation, maintenance, structure & function, testing, adjusting, and repair of Komatsu products
• Experience of working in the mining industry within Africa
• Strong communication skills in spoken and written English
