Job Summary
• The Transport Manager will play a crucial role in managing the transportation and logistics activities of the company. His/her main responsibilities will include the following:
Route Planning and Optimisation
• Analyzing transportation needs and planning the most efficient and cost-effective routes for goods or passengers.
• Optimizing routes to minimize fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact.
Fleet Management
• Managing a fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, repairs, and scheduling.
• Ensuring that vehicles are compliant with safety regulations and have up-to-date licenses and permits.
Team Management
• Supervising and leading a team of drivers, warehouse staff, and other transportation personnel.
• Conducting training and performance evaluations for staff members.
Compliance and Regulations
• Ensuring that all transportation activities comply with regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
• Keeping up-to-date with changing transportation laws and regulations.
Cost Control
• Monitoring transportation costs, including fuel expenses, vehicle maintenance, and labor costs.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing strategies and policies to reduce expenses.
Inventory Management
• Coordinating with inventory or warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Managing inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
Safety and Security
• Implementing safety protocols to minimize accidents and injuries during transportation.
• Securing goods and assets during transit to prevent theft or damage.
Reporting and Documentation
• Maintaining accurate records of transportation activities, including delivery schedules, vehicle maintenance schedules, and driver logs.
• Generating reports and providing data analysis to improve transportation efficiency.
Customer Service
Ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction by meeting delivery deadlines and addressing customer inquiries or complaints.
Sustainability Initiatives
Implementing environmentally friendly transportation practices to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or any related field.
• Relevant experience in transportation management or logistics, with a strong understanding of industry regulations and best practices.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in transportation management software and tools.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
