JOB DETAILS:
Synite Quarries Zambia Limited (SQL) was duly registered in 2007. The principal business activities of the company are supplying of aggregates, mining, Building Construction, Road Construction and Plant Hire. The company is also in general trade which includes transport Haulage. The company is urgently looking for the suitably qualified candidates to fill in the following position:
Workshop Foreman * 1

Position Overview
Direction and supervision of work force engaged in maintenance and repair of existing plant and equipment and installation of minor works.

Essential Job Functions
1. Supervises work force, maintenance and repair associated with the mechanical services, plant and equipment.
2. Organizes and directs labour to effectively and efficiently complete day-to-day work schedules.
3. Assigns day-to-day work schedules for all maintenance staff.
4. Quantifies materials, tools and equipment for work areas ensuring their availability for use with day-to-day work schedules.
5. Requests materials, spare parts, tools and vehicle for the section under his control.
6. Ensures tools and equipment are used safely, effectively and efficiently.
7. Supervises labour to ensure adequate quantity of work output and desired standards in terms of quality are achieved.
8. Carries out frequent inspections and completes periodic reports if required, for the areas under his control.
9. Provides regular reports to Plant Manager and other supervisors in the absence of Plant Manager.
10. Assessing staff training needs, providing on the job training and assist in maintaining records of all training carried out.
11. Ensures safe working practices are implemented.
12. Ensure that the workshop and the surrounding areas are in compliance with the safety rules and regulations.
13. Participates in on-call duties.
14. Carries out other duties within his skill remit as required by the Director of Operations & Maintenance.

Skills/Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
• Have a strong level of technical understanding of machinery and plant.
• An ability to tolerate (some of the time) noisy, dirty and uncomfortable working environments.

Qualifications
• Craft certificate in Heavy equipment repair
• Computer literate
• Track record of having worked in the similar capacity at least not less than 3 years
• Supervisory skills and/or team player
• Must have a valid driver’s licence
• Any other related qualifications deemed relevant by board of directors.
