Consultancy for Fundraising & Partnership Development
Purpose:
Women for Women International (WfWI) is an International non-profit making organization committed to improving lives of socially excluded and marginalized women in conflict and post-conflict settings. Women for Women International (WfWI) provides a 12-month program on life
skills, rights education and vocational skills training. We have been at the frontlines in Rwanda since 1997, providing more than 75,000 marginalised women with a holistic 12-month programme that combines life skills and rights awareness education with market-based vocational training and small business start-up support. Our results-based training and support package equips the most marginalised women in Rwanda to build self-reliance in the four critical areas of income and livelihoods; health and well-being; rights and decision-making; and in building social networks.
Women for Women International (WfWI) Rwanda is looking for an experienced fundraising and partnership consultant to work on part-time basis for three months to support fundraising and partnerships activities of the Country Office The consultant will report to the Country Director and primarily work on building credible and competent partnerships. On-need basis he/she will developing proposals for effective program
implementation. The consultant will a be expected to outline systematic and strategic approach to leveraging existing and new partnerships to diversify the resource base of WfWI Rwanda.
The overall purpose of the consultancy is to successfully achieve program’s resource mobilization and partnership development requirements by engaging additional donors and partnerships required.
Scope of work
The consultant will be required to:
Based on previous work, develop a 3-year fundraising plan, which includes key activities, areas of required investment, milestones as well as the projected growth of fundraising income.
Familiarize with WfWI priority deliverables in relation to Women socio and economic empowerment strategies and plans
Identify key funding priorities and funding sources and develop high quality proposals in consultation with the technical leads
Work closely with Managers responsible for planning to identify funding needs and anticipated gaps.
From discussions with internal key and external stakeholders, identify potential funders for WfWI Rwanda interventions
Develop fundraising proposals and strategies for stronger donor partnerships
Develop a mechanism for tracking funding needs and proposal development which can be sustained
Key deliverables
Develop a 3-year business development plan, identify both the funding needs and potential funding sources of funding, produce targeted high-quality resource mobilization proposals in consultation and with inputs from WfWI staff;
Develop at least 3-4 high quality multi-year proposals responding to priority needs of each of the key results areas and funding gaps in supporting women socio & economic empowerment.
From discussions with internal and external stakeholders, identify and establish contact with potential funders for WfWI program activities
Map donor interests, priorities, and funding windows and identify actions that should be taken to mobilize funds and develop/maintain relationships with these donors;
Ensure follow-up with potential donor partners.
Competencies required
At least 10 years’ experience in international development
Proven successful track record in fundraising for non-governmental organizations
Good understanding of Women socio & economic empowerment
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Good understanding of both US and non-US funders, bilateral and multi-lateral donors, funds and foundations in relation to Women Empowerment, Gender Equality and Rights’ issues
Excellent inter-personal working skills
Be based in Rwanda during the time of the consultancy.
Experience in coaching, mentoring, training others
Knowledge of donor community and funding trends in Rwanda a high advantage’
