JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose: To analyse samples submitted to the laboratory safely, and with the highest degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure that all equipment is safe to use, and that subordinate staff work safely.
• Identify and report any unsafe practices and equipment to the Assistant Lab Manager immediately.
• Ensure cleanliness of the laboratory and the application of good housekeeping practices
• Liaise with the Assistant Laboratory Manager and agents (when requested) for repairs to equipment.
• Report any insufficient chemicals and stock needed for the laboratory in good time.
• Perform tasks from time as required by the Assistant Laboratory Manager.
• Provide guidance to all subordinate staff on laboratory safety and quality.
• Help with the maintenance of the Quality System.
• Help with the writing of procedures and methods.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, instructions, and methods of analysis.
• Ensure that the maintenance, calibration and verification of all apparatus, equipment and instruments are updated.
• Help to co-ordinate results of the proficiency testing schemes.
• Complete all quality related documentation as required per shift.
• Ensure the accuracy of all results and certificates generated.
• Ensure all paperwork in your area of responsibility is completed correctly.
• Report any non-conformances to the Assistant Lab Manager.
• Compile monthly and weekly reports, on the performance of the lab and related departments, to the Assistant Lab Manager as requested
• Liaise with clients when requested to do so.
• Ensure that the highest standards of personal conduct, service, communication and integrity are maintained at all times, when dealing internally and when dealing with clients and external authorities. Ensure that the best interests of Munali Nickel Mine are upheld at all times.
• Help control the operations of the laboratory and subordinate staff.
• Help train all subordinate staff members.
• Help run the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
• Help control the operations of the laboratory and its staff compliment
Skills & Qualifications: –
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
• 5 years minimum testing laboratory experience.

Experience in Months: 48

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
