USAID DISCOVER-Health aims to improve the lives of Zambians by ensuring equitable access to and use of high-quality HIV, maternal new-born and child health (MNCH), family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) services and products at the district and community levels. The project also supports the Government of Zambia (GRZ) efforts to address the global COVID-19 epidemic, including accelerating the national rollout and scale-up of COVID-19 vaccination. During the next three years the project is conducting a technical assistance role to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the provision of integrated health services whilst assisting GRZ in COVID-19 activities as directed by donor USAID.
JSI USAID DISCOVER Health Project is recruiting for the following position:
Position: Community Mobilization Officer (3 Positions)
Location: Chingola (1); Kitwe (2)
Position Type: Full time
Reports to: Hub Manager

Job Purpose:
The Community Mobilization Officer implements USAID DISCOVER-Health hub and outreach site community mobilization and demand creation activities and provides guidance and supervision to a team of community health workers engaged by the project to promote uptake of targeted health products/services including COVID-19 vaccinations as well as ART/TB, HTC, VMMC, MNCH, and sexual/ reproductive health related products/services.
Reporting to the Hub Manager, the Community Mobilization Officer will work with traditional and other community leaders in building systems to facilitate sustained demand and utilization of USAID DISCOVER-H services/products in the designated locations.

Duties/ Responsibilities
• Generate integrated demand creation plans for uptake of COVID-19 vaccination and ART/TB, HTC, VMMC, MNCH, PrEP and sexual/reproductive health related products/services, as well as supervise implementation of demand creation strategies within the district of operation.
• Support the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the provincial health office and health facilities to increase accessibility of COVID-19 vaccines so as to increase the number of people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19
• Effectively and efficiently engage community leaders and other gatekeepers to increase demand and utilization of DISCOVER-Health Project services and products;
• Design and implement mechanisms that will increase uptake and utilization of DISCOVER- Health Project Health services and products.
• Develop, mentor, and coach USAID DISCOVER-Health community health workers
• Provide support supervision to a cross section of USAID DISCOVER-Health community health workers.
• Establish networks and strategic partnerships to enable sustainable implementation of community-led health promotion activities.
• Conduct regular field visits as needed in the designated project areas under your District.
• Facilitate and organize review meetings in the designed area about the functioning of community mobilization strategies.
• Maintain a systematic database to store information for decision making for community mobilization activities at all levels.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the Project.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Degree/ Diploma- Social work, Development studies, Public Health or other related qualification
• Post graduate qualification in education, communication for development or any other related field will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2- 3 years of relevant experience working with Government entities, USAID agencies and other sectors.
• Training in Psychosocial Counselling is desirable.
