Overview

Organisational Profile
CareCoop is a member driven Savings and Credit Society Organisation (SACCO) registered under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry. The organization has experienced phenomenal growth in the last few years and now seeks to fill the following position;
Debt Recovery Officer

Main Purpose of Job
The Debt Recovery Officer is responsible for coordinating debt recovery activities on behalf of CareCoop. This responsibility will require working directly with the Business Development Manager (BDM) to provide support for all recovery efforts and activities to reduce the risk of credit default and loan impairment.

Key Responsibilities
Main duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Reviewing CareCoop’s debtors’ list.
2. Contacting members and informing them of their overdue bills.
3. Advising members on their payment options and suggesting methods of repayment.
4. Ensuring reconciliation of the billed schedules against the remittance schedules.
5. Reconciliation of the overdue loan portfolio with defined action plans on uncollected amounts.
6. Recovery from General members whose DDACC mandates may not have been successfully honored for various reasons.
7. Maintaining member payment records.
8. Delivery of all official recovery related letters/communication as well as notices to defaulting members/organizations at intervals prescribed by the CareCoop Credit Policy.
9. Collaborating with the CareCoop appointed Legal Counsel for the institution of legal action against defaulting members.
10. Responding to customer queries.
11. Developing and executing plans that will allow the department to achieve their targets and implements strategies set by the CareCoop.
12. Weekly submission of recoveries report
13. Maintain portfolio at risk (PAR) at a rate stipulated within the CareCoop default risk appetite.
Experience/Skills
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience preferably in a financial institution.
• Experience delivering debt recovery results with effective debt recovery techniques while maintaining a good customer experience and appropriately representing the CareCoop brand.
• Knowledge of the banking system, experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience using MS Dynamics Navision or related packages is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of micro finance principles and practices of banking.
• Credit analytical skills.
• Debt collection techniques.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and ability to always embrace and manage change.
• Analytical and quantitative skills.
• Good communication skills both written and oral.
• High integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications
• Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) ‘O’ Levels (Credit or better)
• Degree in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent
