We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, analysing financial data, and providing strategic insights to support business decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and a thorough understanding of commercial accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and provide recommendations to optimize expenses.
- Value Chain Analysis: Analyse the product value chain to establish pricing based on benchmarked profit margins.
- Accounts Management: Oversee cashbook, accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulations.
- Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and business plans.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective controls and procedures.
- Statutory Returns: Manage tax filings and statutory returns (NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE, VAT etc) and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Stock Takes: Administer monthly stock takes to ensure accurate inventory records.
- Fixed Asset Register: Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking of company assets.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial insights and reports to stakeholders, including senior management and investors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CA(ZM) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related roles and in the FMCG Sector
- Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage Evolution, Syspro, SAP), advanced Excel skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
