JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Risk and Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the CFO with risk management, compliance reviews and basic operational/financial assessments, reviews and audits of the Group. Work the HR team to conduct exit interviews, ensuring that all IT and other clearances are done. Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities and conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed. Ensure that all HR policies are up to date and in compliance with current legislation

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct research and proper planning to support the implementation of the organization’s risk management and compliance processes:
• Contribute to the planning, designing, and implementing of overall risk management and compliance review processes for the organisation.
• Represent the Company in the courts of law in order to secure favorable judgments for the organisation
• Verify that all firm and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated.
• Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees.
• Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the impact of these changes on organizational processes.
• Provide advice and guidance to HR staff and management on HR policies and compliance issues.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure that the organization is following all HR policies and procedures
• Advise internal management on the implementation or operation of compliance programs.
• Consult with corporate attorneys as necessary to address difficult legal compliance issues.
• Direct the development or implementation of compliance-related policies and procedures throughout the organization
• Conduct Exit interviews, ensuring that all IT and other clearances are done.
• Develop and deliver compliance training to HR staff and other stakeholders.
• Keep up to date with changes in HR legislation and best practices
• Ensure that all HR policies are up to date and in compliance with current legislation.
• Review and monitor HR practices and processes to identify potential areas of risk or noncompliance.
• Evaluate risk with respect to standards established by the organisation, taking into consideration
• Evaluate compliance issues with respect to standards established by the organisation taking into consideration criteria such as cost, legal requirements, environmental factors, organization’s previous handling of compliance issues etc.

Required Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent communication, listening and writing skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Problem solving skills. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
• Capable of working with people of varied technical backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, cross-functional work streams
• Team player
• Good presentation skills.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Education
• Degree in Law
• Professional qualification in Risk Management, Fraud Risk and Investigations will be a plus
• At least 5+ years of experience in Risk and Compliance Management with a reputable large organization
• Excellent knowledge of HR legislation
• Excellent grasp of ERM principles and philosophy
• Good leadership skills
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
• Experience in business risk analysis and management
• Professional Certification Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Association of Certified Forensic Practitioners (ACFP) / Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) will be an added advantage
• Must be a member of LAZ
