Job Title: SCRUM Master / Product Owner Support Lead (3-6 months initially)

Africa Greenco’s mission is to increase generation and growth of renewable energy markets through partnerships and innovative solutions. We act as an intermediary offtaker and service provider, purchasing power from renewable IPPs and selling that electricity to utilities and private sector off-takers as well as markets of the South African Power Pool.

The company is developing green field business operations and will be introducing new systems and processes across the value chain as part of this. As such, there is a requirement to hire a SCRUM master to work help implement and facilitate new capabilities into the business. In addition, the scrum master will be experienced in being the right hand person to the product owner helping to drive through and resolve business and system impediments to a successful conclusion.

The successful applicant must be passionate about teamwork, collaboration and coaching teams to create an agile workforce and common way of working. The successful candidate will ideally will have 1-2 years knowledge of energy trading and risk management business and systems delivery and be well versed in managing and adapting priorities in a fluid and evolving business environment.

Job Responsibilities
• Empowering teams to create a culture of focus, improving the organization of their work through effective sprint planning, delivery and retrospectives
• Working closely with the Product Owner to prioritise the implementation of Epics, Features and Stories and deliver high value increments or releases that meet agreed business acceptance criteria and definition of done
• Understanding the requirements, solution design of various release goals such that solution options can be worked through and demonstrated to product owners and business for quick & effective decision making
• Removing impediments affecting agile teams and escalating issues in the implementation of Agile methodologies to expedite process correction
• Developing effective sprint and release plans in conjunction with the product owner
• Introducing change control mechanisms that minimize disruption to sprints or release goals and provide transparency of solution options and risk assessments of new requirements
• Guiding business departments and teams towards cross-functional orientation and collaboration aligning all parties towards a common goal and helping plan and coordinate new workflows and patterns that foster efficient and effective ways of working
• Developing implementation strategies that resonate with the culture and status of the organization such that improvements can be absorbed in a positive way
• Continually monitoring progress and development of team members across department boundaries and provide support to engage employees to achieve goals
• Complete monthly status reports and present to upper management

Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
• At least two years of experience with exercising Agile methodology
• Strong knowledge of Scrum, Agile and Lean methodologies
• 2-5 year proven delivery track record of system delivery and management of business and IT teams

Preferred:
• 1-2 years knowledge of energy trading systems implementation
• Experience of working with hybrid mix of contractors, consultants and business personnel
• Working knowledge of Asana collaboration tool
