COST ACCOUNTANT (01 POSITION)
JOB OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Accountant to join our team on a Fixed-Term Contract. The successful candidate will support the Head of Finance by ensuring the accuracy of data collection, financial documentation, and inventory management. This role demands proficiency in Sage Evolution, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to perform under pressure. Candidates with a background in Accounting, Bookkeeping and affiliated with ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPS, or ZIPS are strongly encouraged to apply.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to: Head-Finance
Interacts with: All Departments
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and cost biological assets for cropping activities.
- Manage and cost building projects and work-in-progress.
- Update Bill of Materials (BOM) and manufacturing project records.
- Process inter-company cost recharges and stock transfers.
- Collect and analyse farming resource operational data.
- Monitor and ensure timely and accurate capture of Stores Issue Vouchers (SIVs).
Monitor daily operational reports (fuel usage, harvest, etc.) for timely and accurate data entry.
- Allocate labour hours to projects and report accordingly.
- Allocate machine hours and electricity usage (kWh) to projects.
- Track and allocate repair and maintenance activities to respective projects.
- Conduct and manage actual inventory counts and reconciliations.
- Prepare stock variance reports.
- Update systems for staff and external inventory related to other income streams; coordinate with payroll for deductions.
- Support the accounting team in fixed assets verification, inventory management, and external audits.
- Ensure timely monthly financial closing by the 10th of each month.
- Manage daily sales invoicing for onion sales at the Soweto Shop.
- Handle Airtel Money payment processing and reconciliation.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Prior on-the-job training or relevant practical experience is an advantage.
- In-depth understanding of inventory management processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:
Proficient in Sage Evolution and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with PC-based accounting systems.
