JOB DETAILS:
To provide practical nursing care for the promotion of good health, prevention of illness and care of the patients at LAMU Clinic who include members of staff, students and members of the public

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
• Welcomes patients to the clinic and attends to preliminary issues such as confirming the appointment and getting a medical card in readiness to see the Medical Officer.
• Ensures that all patients with appointments and emergency cases are attended to by the Medical Officer giving priority to emergency cases and by order of appointment times.
• Administers drugs, injections and carries out treatment under supervision and maintains the prescribed nursing record.
• Recognizes warning signs of abnormal or potentially abnormal conditions which necessitate referral to the hospital and carries out emergency measures in the absence of medical help.
• Ensures that patients requiring help or food are fed or helped at meal times.
• Carries out nursing procedures and techniques including toilet needs accurately.
• Cleans baths and dresses the patient so as to keep him/her in a hygienic condition.
• Ensures that the beds and areas where patients are seen or attended to are kept tidy and clean
• Provides professional care and advice to women to aid them during pregnancy, child birth and during the postnatal period.
• Attends to women in child birth and cares for new-born infants, gives instructions and advice regarding care of mother/child during convalescence.
• Participates in maternal and child health care clinics aimed at ensuring healthy mothers and children.

Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Midwifery certificate
• A minimum of 3 years working experience in a busy hospital.
• Valid practicing GNC License

• Presentation and verbal communication skills
• High level of planning and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Should be able to work under minimum supervision and able to multitask
