JSH is implementing the USAID Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Populations
(CHEKUPII) Activity which was awarded on September 13, 2022, with implementation through September 6, 2027. The Activity aims to support the Ministry of Health in mitigating against and attaining HIV epidemic control by increasing equitable access to, and use of person-centered, community-driven, and high-quality HIV prevention services for key and underserved (priority) populations. USAID CHEKUP II Activity operates in seven districts with the highest HIV-burden in Zambia. USAID CHEKUP II Activity seeks dynamic and highly experienced candidates to fill the following vacant positions.

2. POSITION NUMBER TWO

Position: Connector – Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)
Location: Kasama (1). Kapiri Mposhi (1), Kabwe (2) - (Total Four (4) Positions)
Duration: Full-Time Position
Reports to: DREAMS Site Coordinator

1. Role’s Purpose:
The Connector-MHPSS will directly support the DREAMS Site Coordinator in the roll-out and implementation of interventions to increase the uptake and sustained use of mental health and psychosocial services.

2. Tasks and Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day implementation of the Mental Health and psychosocial support to the Adolescent Girls and Young Women.
• Provide technical support to Mentors and ensure that they implement Mental Health interventions and psychosocial support services to Adolescents Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
• Work with Mentors in identifying and supporting the AGYW who need mental support through psychosocial counselling.
• Provide support to up to DREAMS Mentors who will be running Safe Spaces within specific sites and ensure that they are running quality Safe Spaces and meeting the needs of the AGYW
• Participate in the weekly and monthly reporting meetings at the DREAMS Centre.
• Work closely with the DREAMS Site Coordinator to ensure that AGYWs have a positive mindset and assertiveness against various adverse health and social outcomes.
• Document mental health program key achievements, best practices and lessons learned and share them with the DREAMS Site Coordinator.
• Submit MHPSS weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual progress reports.
• Adhere to JSH personnel, financial, operations and fraud management policies.
• Participate in any other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

3. Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors:
• Diploma in Social Work, psychosocial counselling, social sciences or health-related field.
• Must have a Psychosocial Counseling Certificate and the capacity to conduct Rapid HIV Testing
• Must be a resident within the specific site for easy travel to DREAMS Centers and Safe Spaces (i.e. Kabwe, Kasama, Kapiri Mposhi)
• At least two years of experience working with adolescents and young women in HIV prevention and service provision
• With 3-4 years of work experience in mental health and psychosocial services
• Strong communication skills (English) and the local language spoken in the implementation site or community
• An empathetic, devoted and respectful individual with good interpersonal communication, team building, and writing skills.
• Must be assertive and energetic
• Females aged between 25 and 35 are encouraged to apply
• Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
