Resonance is currently seeking Grants and Awards Manager candidates to propose for an upcoming 5-year USAID-funded Zambia Alternatives to Charcoal project. The purpose of this activity is to promote energy alternatives to charcoal with the goal of reducing deforestation and forest degradation in certain provinces of Zambia. The position is contingent upon contract award.
The Grants and Awards Manager will report to the Deputy Chief of Party and lead the design of grant applications, guidelines, and mechanisms. The Manager will analyze grant submissions, recommend award actions to the team, and coordinate the issuance and management of awards contracts.

  Essential Functions
• Lead the grant applications process from supporting the design of applications procedures to analyzing and evaluating grant submissions for technical and budget soundness and compliance with donor regulations, recommending award actions to the project team;
• Coordinate the issuance of awards and maintain contract documentation through the development and support the design, build, and upkeep of the grants database;
• Provide guidance on sub-award management, including vetting and collaborative scoping of partners, drafting and review of sub-award agreements and modifications, oversight and report verification;
• Provide day to day technical oversight of an activity and grants portfolio to ensure effective programmatic delivery that meets the objectives of each activity;
• Prepare scheduled and special reports, studies and analyses regarding the grants program;
• Ensure technical and financial reporting requirements per USAID requirements

  Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in management, financial analysis, accounting, public administration, or a related field;
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in grants and awards for US Government foreign affairs agency, international assistance organization, or non-governmental organization;
• Thorough understanding of USAID policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to grants management;
• Demonstrated experience working on cross-cultural teams
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects;
• Ability to analyze technical and cost proposals and prepare reports and recommendations on whether or not applicants should be funded;
• Ability to analyze budget line items for compliance with budget guidelines;
• Proven record of maintenance and database management skills;
• Ability and interest to live and work in Lusaka, Zambia
Preferred Education, Experience & Competencies
• Master’s Degree in management, financial analysis, accounting, public administration, or a related field;
• Experience leading the formulation and implementation of a grants and awards strategy for a USAID project.
