Job Opportunity
Women for Change (WfC) a Gender-focused Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates for the positions of Field Officers (1) for the Women Empowerment Project (WEP) in Chongwe and Rufunsa Districts of Lusaka Province in Zambia. The Field Officers will be expected to work under the supervision of Field Office Coordinator in implementing the WEP which is supported by Fundación Progresar and funded by The Foundation “Stiftelsen Support for Development”.
Location: Based in Chongwe field office
Responsibilities:
The work is carried out under the immediate supervision of the Field Office Coordinator:
Manages 14 to 16 women’s groups.
Plans and organizes working meetings of the village banks of the delegated women’s groups
Leads monthly meetings and ensures achieving the agenda of each group. Implements the monthly agenda of the potluck lunch and facilitates preparation of nutritious recipes with groups during the monthly meetings.
Advises, plans and monitors promotors from the delegated women’s groups
Trains, coaches and monitors the groups’ steering committees.
Undertakes individual monitoring visits to the women in each group.
Implements the process to provide and monitor micro credits to the women and monitors the support to small and micro enterprises in the groups, using the village bank manual
Monitors the women’s credit and savings payments, and takes actions to achieve a 100% repayment of credits and correct savings amount each month
Implements emotional health activities in the groups using the Emotional Health manual.
Collects data on regular basis to measure achievement against the Project performance indicators and targets. Identifying the causes of potential bottlenecks in Project implementation.
Documents stories of change, best practices and lessons learnt from Project interventions.
Implements activities anticipated in the Livestock manual.
Implements gender equality and women’s rights activities using the designed manual and provided training instruments.
Conducts training in business development of the women’s groups using the manual for enterprise development.
Participates in planning and evaluation meetings of the Project.
Trains and advises the groups on the proper functioning of women groups.
Supports the women’s home gardens using the manual and project method and in implementing vermicompost fertilizers or other forms for preparation of organic fertilizers.
Undertakes monitoring visits to all the women in the groups, follow up and give advice on livestock management, vegetable gardens and compost production.
Participate in trainings related to the project.
Prepares weekly, monthly and other requested reports.
Keeps the binder of each group updated with correct and updated documents.
Undertakes any other activity that is designated by the field office coordinator according to the circumstances of the work performed in the field office.
Minimum Education
Qualifications:
Diploma in social work, teachers’ training, accounting or business management with specialisation in training, basic accounting and business management.
Experience
Minimum two years of work Experience of organising and training groups in rural areas, preferably women’s groups
Previous two years’ work experience in:
gender equality, women’s rights and organising and training poor rural women or
micro enterprise development, income generation activities or micro finance.
Experience or knowledge about saving projects for rural areas is considered an advantage.
Experience in community engagement including working with traditional leaders.
Experience of writing reports and plans.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of micro Enterprise development and micro finance and saving projects for rural women is a plus
Computer literate in Excel, Power Point and Ms Word.
Excellent English Language – written and oral skills
Good oral local language skills.
Ability to effectively conduct capacity building activities in local languages.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to produce reports.
Holder of motor cycle licence

Willingness to work in rural areas, eager to learn and adapt and openness to work with different emotional health methods.
