Job description:
Overall Job Purpose

To ensure the provision of cost effective maintenance services within the designated area. The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high quality service to internal customers of the Company. The post holder’s specific responsibility will be to deliver an effective and responsive maintenance management service

Specific Job Responsibility

• The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include:
• Convert work requests to work orders and close work orders when work is completed. Monitor backlog. Ensure all information is correct and used effectively for planning
• Forecasting Work orders
• Ensure to run forecast for the crushers in pronto prior to planning and scheduling of Planned Maintenance activities for both calendar and hourly based tasks. To effectively manage this, the planner should make sure machine engine hours are captured into Pronto on a daily basis.
• Planning - Liaise with work request originators or Executioners, Maintenance and Operations Supervisors and staff onsite inspections of planned work activities for the crushers to ensure that work orders accurately reflect the specific actions necessary to complete the task effectively. Includes ensuring work order contain all resources, materials, tool lists, drawings, photographs, labour, special instructions and steps detailed to the point that a competent artisan can carry out their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
• Scheduling - Ensuring schedules are in line with mine production requirements. This should be made possible by having meetings with all stakeholders prior to signing off the schedule with operational team at the crushers.
• Compliance to the Work Management Process in respect to planning and scheduling work orders within the required timeframe.
• Provide relevant and good quality attachments for work packs to the team members which may include but not limited to JHA’s, SOP’s, SWI’s etc. This includes the updating of any of these documents to ensure they are kept relevant and reflect “best practice”
• Management of Rotables - Open and close rotables repair projects in pronto and ensure proper accounts are credited with returns; Manage components to determine cost effectiveness of repair/replacement and warranty tracking. Tag and return unused or repairable parts to warehouse; Assist with development of weekly and monthly rotables reports and liaise with the rotables team at mobile and main warehouses.
• Develop plans considering operational schedules, labour and material for maintenance and capital projects. Act as interface between operations and maintenance for scheduling purposes. Conduct related planning meetings;
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage predictive/preventative maintenance activities. Ensure that costs and hours are correctly scheduled. Oversee collection and recording of equipment and work activity data;
• Assist Supervisor, Mobile Equipment Maintenance in ensuring that work is completed on schedule. Monitor work progress and relevant equipment status to decide necessity of work re-assignments;
• Work with warehouse to obtain most cost-effective inventory levels. Forecast annual component usage for budget purposes. Monitor inventory of critical parts and notify warehouse of problems in a proactive manner. Assist purchasing as required;
• Maintain machine working hours and handle Dispatch of required fleets
• Ensure compliance with supply chain and accounting procedures in the maintenance planning process;
• Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor.

Experience required to perform in this job

• Must be familiar with safe working practices.
• Minimum 2 years maintenance experience on Mobile machinery environment or acceptable equivalent on underground or surface mining.
• Must have worked with recognised CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System), Pronto will be added advantage.
• Able to read, understand and reference maintenance manuals.
• Prior planning experience will be highly regarded.

Qualifications
• Must have Grade 12 Certificate
• Heavy Equipment Repair/Automotive Technician or Technologist
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint etc.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and having driving experience for 12 months.
