JOB DETAILS:
Mopani Copper Mines Plc has operations in Mufulira and kitwe on the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The Company’s success has been as a result of its focused approach to improvement and the mutually beneficial relationship enjoyed with its stakeholders – an important sector of which is its employees, The Company seeks the services of Artisan Refrigeration x 1
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance and repair work on all refrigeration equipment to acceptable standards to satisfy the requirements of all Departments of the Mine Site.

The responsibilities, skills and knowledge of this role will include but are not limited to the following:
• Receive daily written work schedules and verbal instructions from the Foreman as planned
• Interpret engineering drawings and knowledge of the plant, the tools and measuring equipment necessary
• to carry out the work.
• Examine electrical installations and determine faults and state of repairs required including the parts and
• materials required for repair works.
• Ensure strict adherence to statutory and domestic regulations particularly those relating to safe working practices in order to minimize injury to personnel and damage to company assets
• Installing new Refrigeration and Heating, Ventilation, and Air conditioning (HVAC) Systems
• Welding, soldering, and brazing techniques as may be required.
• Repairing and upgrading Refrigeration and Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) Systems
• Upgrading systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards
• Should be able to work at heights and underground in the mining environment.
• Diagnosing problems and make repairs to existing equipment blast freezers and chilers
• Knowledge about local building codes

To be considered for this position, the candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
• Craft or Technician Certificate in Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
• Refrigerant Technician Certification in handling Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) advantageous.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
• At least 3 years of working experience as an Artisan Refrigeration preferably in the mining industry
• Fluent in both written and spoken English

The successful candidate must be result oriented and have the ability to work with own initiative, ability to understand scope of work, paying particular attention to Company policies and Corporate objectives
