JOB DETAILS:
Assistant manager – facilities electrical maintenance – ho (1 post)
Grade: bozm5

Job Purpose
Design and maintain electrical systems including power distribution systems, mini-solar plants, lighting systems, telecommunications systems, HVAC systems, elevator systems and note processing/ destruction systems and ensure that electrical systems meet safety and sustainability standards.

Main Accountabilities
• Design, maintain, implement, or improve electrical facilities and systems of commercial scale.
• Understand and implement designs from technical and architectural drawings.
• Establish installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
• Ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by inspecting electrical components during and after the product installation.
• Carry out physical inspection of electrical services, mini solar plants, UPS systems, Generators, note processing/ destruction machines and undertake periodic maintenance.
• Monitor performance of all electrical equipment and make recommendations of replacement based on performance and cost.
• Initiate engagement of external intervention, when necessary, and supervise external electrical contractors.
• Perform energy audits and recommend alternative sources of clean energy.
• Write reports and compile data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
• Prepare specifications, estimate material, labour or construction costs for budget preparation, and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of spare parts.
• Prepare daily maintenance work schedules and supervise or train a variety of technicians.

Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) ‘O’ Levels (credit or better).
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia with valid practicing license.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in facilities electrical maintenance

Key Knowledge and Attributes
• Advanced mathematical skills for calculation of design equations
• Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office tools.
• Deep knowledge of complex electrical systems.
• Proficient with industry-specific electrical systems tools such as power quality analyzers
• Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies.
• Time-management skills for meeting deadlines
