Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
• The role of Assistant Maintenance Planners is critical to the efficient and effective management of maintenance operations within Mine Maintenance. This role involves overseeing the management of materials, supplies, and inventory required for maintenance processes, ensuring that materials are available on time, and in the right quantities. This role will provide essential support to the maintenance planning and scheduling process, which in turn contributes to overall productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• This role will serve as an entry point for individuals looking to enter the maintenance planning field. As they gain experience and expertise, they can contribute more effectively to planning activities and potentially take on higher-level roles. Level 2 Artisans who demonstrate the skills and behaviors will be eligible to join the planning team as planning assistants fulfilling the responsibilities below.
• Assistant Planners will provide flexibility during peak workloads, shutdowns, or other high-demand periods, ensuring that the planning function remains responsive to changing needs. As Assistant Planners work closely with experienced planners, they have the opportunity to learn from their expertise and eventually assume more responsibilities, contributing to the continuity of the planning process.

Specific Job Responsibility
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Tracks backlogs and drives their closure, assists supervisors to create breakdown work orders, and commits materials.
• Parts management orders and takes parts out of stores, keeps storage container and cages well stocked to support maintenance teams.

Quality Control:
• Ensure that all incoming materials and parts meet quality standards and specifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Participate in regular meetings to discuss material needs and resolve any operational challenges.
• Liaise with the long-term planning team (Lead Planner and Project Planner) for major plant outage material requirements and follow up.
• Works closely with procurement, cataloguing, planning, scheduling and work coordination to provide seamless execution of the work process.
• Supports Work Activity Coordinating & Maintenance Planning in sending unused material back to warehouse and/or vendor with approval from the technical manager.

Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or incidents related to preparation of parts and materials for planned services and projects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and guidelines related to material storage and disposal.
• Contribute to the identification of hazards.
• Ensuring that health and safety training is completed as required.
• Ensure that incidents related to health, safety or the environment are reported and assist in investigations to identify any additional controls required.
• Attend regular safety meetings.
• Actively promote continuous improvement in safety performance throughout the workforce.

Job Specific Competencies
Work Order Management
• Understanding of parts and materials used in mobile maintenance, their properties, and applications.
• Familiarity with the CMMS (Pronto) and demonstrates an ability to:
• Raise different types of work orders from work requests submitted that include relevant history notes, the correct hold codes, etc.
• Check any new work orders assigned to planner code.
• Compile work packs and distribute to Supervisors.
• Inspect parts delivery areas and ensure unused parts have been returned to store and drop off areas are clear for next delivery.
• Ensure all work orders in current work week have been collected and handed in to the area planner for closing.
• Record all work orders that have been delivered and signed off by maintenance teams.
• Assist area planner to enforce work order management process and in project management of major planned component replacements (PCRs).
• Assist area planner to prepare parts for services and weekly maintenance schedules.
Inventory Control Skills:
• Skill in analyzing inventory data to identify trends, optimize stock levels, and minimize wastage.
Quality Control and Compliance:
• Understanding of quality control processes and the ability to assess material specifications and compliance with industry standards.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental guidelines related to materials handling and storage.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
• Aptitude for identifying issues related to parts availability, quality, or procurement and proposing viable solutions.
Organizational and Time Management:
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage resources efficiently.

Experience required to perform in this job.
• At least 3 years’ maintenance experience in at FQM Trident Limited.
• Demonstrates level 2 proficiency in the CARE Proficiency Framework
• Driver’s license

Qualifications
• CRAFT Certificate or higher in Electrical/Mechanical/ Air Conditioning/ Auto-Electrical/HER/Fabrication/Rigging or any related field.
• A qualification in Project Management is an Advantage
