JOB DETAILS:
1. Job Title: Boiler Maker
Job Purpose: To interpret blue prints and make and/or repair transformer tanks and/or other structures by following the procedure and specifications
Scope: To be responsible for permanently joining metal parts using high heat applications to form a permanent bond .

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate in a safe working environment and safety working equipment, applying safety practice at work while performing duties
• Plan work by creating and/or interpreting drawings and determine welding positions, and types and quantity of metal to be used
• Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• To operate the welding machines, angle grinders, drill machines and other tools and equipment necessary to perform metal fabrication tasks
• Align components using calipers, spirit levels, squares, rulers etc.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• To control the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating, distortion, expansion or shrink of spare parts
• Examining finished products to ensure specifications and quality requirements are met
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Takes other duties as assigned by superior

Experience & skills:
• Proven experience as welder: vertical and horizontal
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding
• Use oxy-acetylene cutting torches
• Detail oriented and ability to work independently under pressure
• Experience welding aluminium, stainless steel and brass is advantageous

• Team mentality and a positive attitude
• Capable of physically using and moving equipment and tools
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Motivated to work extra hours when necessary

Qualifications
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Craft/Advanced Certificate in Metal Fabrication
• 3 years proven related experience
• Valid driving license is an added advantage
