As an innovative social enterprise DKT is constantly seeking new ways to meet consumer and healthcare provider needs for family planning and reproductive health products and services.
1. Overview
Our organization seeks an experienced Business Development/Sales Consultant to drive growth and expand our market presence. The Consultant will play a pivotal role in expanding and developing the family planning business in Zambia. This position is responsible for driving sales growth, enhancing marketing strategies, assisting in the registration of products and portfolio expansion, and supporting overall operations, including fundraising. The ideal consultant will have a strong background in sales and marketing, particularly in the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector, a deep understanding of the Zambia market dynamics, and an entrepreneurial leadership attitude.
2. Objectives
• Market expansion: Identify and secure new business opportunities in existing and new markets
• Growth: Develop strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase profitability
• Client relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships
• Brand positioning: Enhance the Organization’s market presence through strategic marketing and advertising initiatives
3. Scope of Work
Sales Development:
• Develop and execute sales strategies to increase the market share of family planning products.
• Identify and target key customer segments, including healthcare providers, pharmacies, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders.
Marketing Initiatives:
• Develop and implement marketing campaigns that promote family planning products.
• Brand positioning
• Market research to identify trends, customer needs and competitive activities, and implement appropriate marketing strategies
• Organization presence in the market
Product Registration and Portfolio Management:
• Registration of new family planning products with the relevant regulatory bodies in Zambia. Coordinate with regulatory on submission and approval of registration documents.
• Development and expansion of the Organization’s product portfolio by identifying new opportunities and market needs.
Business Development:
• Identify new business opportunities and partnerships that align with the Organization’s growth objectives.
• Develop and present business proposals to potential partners, customers, and stakeholders.
Operations Support
• Provide support, data, recommendations, and reports to regional function leads, including finance, procurement, marketing, and programs.
4. Key Deliverables
• Market analysis report: A comprehensive report detailing market opportunities, competition and potential challenges
• Business development plan: A strategic plan outlining steps for achieving revenue and market growth objectives
• Entity registration: Establish DKT International as official organization in Zambia, including identifying most appropriate type of entity and requirements to register
• Sales, revenue, and CYPs: Achieve specified sales, revenue, and CYP targets
• New products registration & introduction: Including all associated activities to ensure effective launch and integration into the market
• Customer acquisition & retention: A plan for identifying and acquiring new customer
• Training: Conduct regular training/coaching to enhance the skills and knowledge of the sales team ensuring they achieve their deliverables
• Progress reports: Regular updates on the progress of business development activities and sales performance
5. Required Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in sales, and business development or marketing preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
• Skills: Strategic planning, leadership, market analysis and business acumen, problem-solving and decision-making, customer relationship management, regulatory knowledge, excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven track record in achieving sales targets.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Healthcare Management or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus
• Industry Knowledge: Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing market share.
• Market Knowledge: strong understanding of the Zambian healthcare market and regulatory environment.
• Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
6. Timeline
• Proposal submission deadline: 16.09.24
• Project kick-off: 01.10.24
• Completion date: 30.09.2025, with option for renewal
7. Budget
• Consultancy fee: Competitive rates based on experience and deliverables.
• Payment terms: Monthly retainer + semi annual commissions
8. Evaluation Criteria
• Experience and expertise: Proven track record in business development and sales management in Zambia
• Cost-effectiveness: Competitive in relation to the value provided
• References: Positive feedback from previous clients
• Eligibility: The individual must have a legal right to work in Zambia
