JOB DETAILS:
PRO-FEMMES/TWESE HAMWE is an umbrella of Civil Society women organizations working to promote peace, gender equality, women empowerment and development.
Currently, PRO-FEMMES/TWESE HAMWE has 53 member organizations. PRO-FEMMES/ TWESE HAMWE is implementing a Project on fighting against Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in all Districts of RWANDA. The project is funded by the GLOBAL FUND through Ministry of Health (MoH), RBC/SPIU.


It is in this regard that PRO-FEMMES/TWESE HAMWE is looking for a suitable candidate to fill a position for a Counselor.
The Counselor will undertake the following specific tasks:

  • Provide professional and confidential services to SGBV victims
  • Supervise and provide training, mentorship, and other technical support to SGBV victims & PLHIV
  •  Work in collaboration with the project coordinator to ensure ongoing needs of SGBV victims & PLHIV are being met.
  • Develop and review appropriate tools and strategies to engage communities in ending SGBV and promoting gender equality through the project activities.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Design other project proposals for submission to potential donors;
  • Perform other tasks as shall be requested by PFTH.


DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least hold a bachelor’s degree in clinical Psychology, social sciences, Public Health, Education, or any other related fields.
  • At least three years (3) progressive experience in psychosocial/counseling specifically related to gender based violence issues;
  • Broad knowledge of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, medical ethics and respect for clients at all times
  • Experience with organizing, facilitating or conducting the community activities: training, community discussions, surveys, group activities, etc.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of civil society in Rwanda;
  • Working experience with SGBV survivors & PLHIV
  • Understanding of Human rights based approach;
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. Knowledge of French is an added advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing;
  •  Innovative, self-driven and team player;
  • Interpersonal skills with experience of working in multicultural contexts.
