JOB DETAILS:
Development Media International (DMI) delivers media campaigns aimed at changing behaviours, promoting health and saving lives. We are the first organisation to scientifically demonstrate that mass media can increase life-saving behaviours.
In 2018 DMI published the results of its 5-year, £7m randomised controlled trial in West Africa which showed that 56% more children were taken for treatment for malaria, 73% more for diarrhoea and 39% more for pneumonia following exposure to our campaign. Modelling indicates that over 3000 lives were saved during the campaign and that our approach is one of the most cost-effective ways of saving children’s lives. We work across a range of health issues, including child survival, reproductive health, nutrition, hygiene, and early childhood development.
Working as part of a small country team, the Campaigns Manager will play a critical role in the development and delivery of DMI’s behaviour change campaigns in Zambia. The post holder would work closely with the Senior Campaigns Manager on the production, pre-testing, review, and distribution of audio and visual content, and would have overall responsibility for the efficient and effective management of DMI’s production processes.
The Campaigns Manager will be expected to work independently, liaising with actors, producers, studio contractors and DMI’s creative team, to produce high-quality audio and visual outputs. They will be required to conduct comprehensive pre-testing of DMI’s outputs with target audiences across Zambia, and to ensure that feedback from all stakeholders is meticulously noted and integrated into the final product.
The post is suited to someone with experience overseeing studio-based production and managing complex projects. The work requires an excellent attention to detail, strong organisational abilities, and a methodological approach to work. As part of a small country team, the successful candidate will also demonstrate a collaborative and hard-working attitude. .

More specifically, the Campaigns Manager role will include the following responsibilities:
1. Project Management of DMI production processes, including developing and maintaining production plans to ensure outputs are delivered on time and in budget;
2. Oversight of script development process, ensuring accurate and comprehensive version control and record management from original script to final output;
3. Lead the production of high-quality audio and visual outputs, including casting, rehearsal, recording and post-production;
4. Conduct pre-testing of DMI’s outputs with key stakeholders, including target audiences, Ministry of Health, Consortium partners;
5. Develop and execute distribution plans for DMI’s visual content, working with universities, government institutions, youth networks, and other channels to ensure content reaches broad audiences;
6. Liaison with key stakeholders including production, broadcast, and consortium partners Ministry of Health, Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs;
7. Undertake administrative and logistical tasks as required by DMI such as meeting and events management, reporting, record keeping;
8. Any other tasks as required by DMI

Required knowledge, skills and experience:
1. Written and spoken English;
2. At least 5 years professional experience in a similar role;
3. Bachelor degree in a related subject, such as social sciences or mass communication;
4. Demonstrable experience overseeing production (audio or visual) in English and any of Zambia’s official languages;
5. Demonstrable experience pre-testing content at community level in Zambia;
6. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to work with detailed planning documents such as project plans and broadcast schedules;
7. Strong attention to detail and demonstrable ability to maintain accurate records of complex information;
8. Experience working with Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project (or equivalent project management software);
9. Excellent writing, communication and presentational abilities;
10. Commitment to promoting the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls;
11. Able and willing to travel within Zambia up to 50% time;
12. Holds the right to work in Zambia
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience:
1. Ability to speak and read at least one of the following languages: Tonga, Kaonde, Luvale, Lunda;
2. Experience working with Ministry of Health or other Government departments on donor-funded programmes;
3. Experience working in sexual and reproductive health and rights
