JOB DETAILS:
Location: University Teaching Hospital, Lusaka, Zambia Reports to: National HIV Treatment and Care Coordinator Job Purpose
To strengthen the HIV/TB programme from National to facility level through effective clinical mentorship and utilization of the ECHO model
Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities
• Provide oversight for clinical mentorship activities, including technical supportive site supervision Lead engagement of new sites, especially in Northern Region of Zambia, in HIV/TB clinical mentorship activities
• Ensure timely and quality onboarding of HIV/TB mentors across the country
• Coordinate Ministry of Health partners supporting clinical mentorship activities
• Develop/adapted tools to facilitate HIV/TB clinical mentorships within facilities (GSM, SIMs. Service Quality Assessment tools)
• Review and update HIV/TB mentor activity monitoring tools
• Enhance current performance management systems for evaluating mentors
• Support the dissemination of updates for mentors in the HIV & TB prevention, treatment &Care protocols Support partners invested in the training of mentors towards achieving the National HIV/TB key priority areas
• Provide leadership for coordinated HIV/TB QIQA trainings for the HIV/TB mentors to reduce disparities in the HIV/TB service delivery
• Work closely with the national pediatric mentor to ensure timely engagement of the HIV/TB mentors through training and orientation the key HIV/TB program indicators
• Work closely with the overall HIV treatment, care and prevention program Ensure the ECHO platform is responsive to the needs of all these HIV/TB areas
• Effectively showcase best practices in the HIV/TB sphere
• Ensure utilization of program data to drive programmatic priorities at all levels of service delivery
• Ensure all reports (including site visits) and assessments are submitted in timely manner to all key stakeholders
Sub-theme: ECHO
• Champion de-monopolization of HIV/TB knowledge through timely dissemination of evidence-based policies and guidelines on the national ECHO platform
• Ensure fidelity of the ECHO models across the ECHO clinics by providing timely feedback from prelaunch and at intervals in the implementation stage
• Lead the development and review of ECHO curricula across the various clinics under the National ECHO umbrella
• Leverage on al processes and work closely with lead HIV/TB mentors to identify gaps through in ECHO implementation and ensure appropriate action
• Supervise other cadres that form the ECHO anatomy at hub and super hub level
• Undertake bidirectional engagement of various stakeholders and the Super hub at UTH to train staff and support the launch of ECHO sub-hubs, hubs and spokes
• Support capacity building for the ECHO model across the country
• Be a role model for facilitators by performing traditional ECHO lead roles:
• Lead the General HIV/TB ECHO sessions
• Lead-ECHO sessions for mentors
• Facilitates ECHO sessions at the hub
• Work closely with the ECHO coordinator to send reminders to Didactic presenters
• Review contents of didactic presentation
• Support content experts prepare for ECHO sessions
• Conducts Literature reviews of the content
• To effectively prepare members of the ECHO anatomy for Meta-ECHO conference by developing and reviewing posters, abstracts and local ECHO innovations.
• Additional responsibilities (10 hours per month)
• Actively engage in the Infectious Diseases Clinical and Training Program
• Provide clinical preceptorship and mentorship of ID trainees
• Work closely with the trainees to link the ECHO with the overall ID training activities
• Work closely with the ID program for scientific meetings, presentations and dissemination
• Perform any other duties/responsibilities necessary for the successful implementation and functioning of the ID program as may be specified by the Ministry of Health
Qualifications
• Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with five (5) O'Levels including English, Mathematics and Science required.
• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery or equivalent
• Registered with Health Professionals Council of Zambia (HPCZ)
• Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine is desirable
Experience and skills
• Working knowledge of the Zambia Ministry of Health ECHO model
• A minimum 2 years post graduate clinical experience at senior registrar or consultant level
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office as a basic requirement) and ability to work with word, excel and power point)
• English language level sufficient to perform this role effectively
