The Organisation
In order to continue implementing our solution driven and bespoke products. General Aliance Insurance Zambia Limited wishes to fill up the vacant position of CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO)
Purpose of the Job
The role holder will assist to develop and implement the strategy and business plans for the Underwriting. Claims Department and Marketing Dept. The role holder wil be required to ensure the Division works in alignment with the overall business plans and General Alliance objectives. The role holder will also ensure that underwriters are equipped to properly assess and administratively manage all risks related to corporates and individuals.
Key Responsibilities
• To participate in the development and implementation of the Department of Underwriting and Claims plans, in line with the Company strategy,
• To implement progressive change in General Allianceby providing guidance and support necessary for continuous improvement, to subordinates in the Division
• To ensure that the branches that achieve their budget are rewarded-token to be agreed with the MD
• To visit all brokers on a weekly basis and provide the brokers with an annual budget. The budget should be agreed with the brokers and every month these need to be discussed with the brokers
• To provide the CEO a strategy paper for 2022
• Have daily meetings with the Business Development teams and report to the CEO daily
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
• Strong leadership qualities skills and self-motivated bringing gravitas, credibility, energy resilience and commitment appropriate to a senior management position
• High level communication skills both oral and written with ability to act as a representative of the Company in a wide range of situations.
• High level negotiation, influencing and enabling skills to ensure priorities are met.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
• High School Certificate with 5’O’ levels: with credit or better with Mathematics and English Language being a must.
• Educated to degree level in Finance, business administration, economics, pensions administration, insurance or related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years proven experience in a busy environment as an insurance Manager or similar role.
• Experience of translating strategy into delivery through plans, programmes people and culture
