Communications Officer
Overview
We are looking to hire a dedicated communications officer to join our team. The communications officer will support our internal and external communications strategy, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinate promotional events. A communications specialist is expected to be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
To succeed as a communications officer, you should be able to think creatively, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A bachelor’s degree with experience as a communications officer or equivalent experience in a similar role is strongly desired.
Communications Officer Responsibilities:
• Provide an effective communication channel between students, parents, agents and the University staff
• Ensure external and internal clients are provided with clear and accurate responses to their inquiries
• Work closely with any student facing challenges and ensure that the University successfully resolves the student’s issue and retains the student.
• Manage the enrollment process for continuing, extending and transferring students
• Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
• Research and write press releases, and content for the company website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
• Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the university’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up-to-date with relevant developments.
• Arrange and coordinate press conferences, and plan events.
• Facilitate the resolution of disputes with external role-players.
• Adhere to the university’s style guide, ensuring that we produce a high-quality and error-free copy.
• Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.
• Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns with the team.
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key external role-players.
Communications Officer Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (essential).
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in communications strategy development (essential).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
