Organizational context
WFP has joined a consortium of public and private institutions, known as the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA), to help smallholder farmers unlock new opportunities. The Alliance works by supporting smallholder farmers to move from subsistence farming to market-oriented agriculture by connecting demand for their crops with commercial markets, improving their access to agricultural inputs and finance, and connecting them to post-harvest solutions, with the aim of boosting incomes and building long-term resilience.
WFP hosts the coordination of this comprehensive value chain intervention and is looking for an individual to push forward these effortsThese jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (COs). Job holders operate with minimal supervision, and are heavily involved in day–to-day activities, analytical work and provide advice on less complex issues.
These roles work in a specialist area of communications. In COs, these roles report to the Country Director, with functional supervision from the Regional Communications Officer, to ensure that the CO communications activities serve WFP needs in the country of assignment, taking into consideration the overall regional communications plan and WFP’s corporate communications goals.
Job purpose
To implement the communications plan by supporting and delivering a range of communications activities, providing research and analysis, and prioritising effectively.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Coordinate the collection of relevant data from country offices and implementation partners that is required to produce timely and accurate reports to donors and other relevant stakeholders
2. Lead and assist in the development of project and country-based business plans
3. Assist the Country Coordinator with stakeholder management through activities that contribute to timely and accurate reporting Country level operations
4. Track timelines, guidelines, and requirements for donor and other stakeholder reports
5. Develop Topic & Event Briefs/Memos as required for fundraising and reporting purposes e.g weekly, monthly
6. Develop, maintain and update an appropriate work plan for the assigned area, which implements the communications strategy, in order to maintain and enhance the visibility and reputation of FtMA
7. Lead the implementation of Farm to Market’s Alliance communication package, including external and internal website, social media messaging, articles, proposals, press releases, & media messages.
8. Produce country briefs and presentations to promote and inform about FtMA’s activities.
9. Ensure clearance processes are carried out in accordance with FtMA corporate messaging, branding standards and WFP rules and regulations.
Communication activites
1. Collect visual content and narratives through field visits (photos, videos, farmer stories)
2. Information management practice review: Conduct a review of the Country Teams office’s key information management practices from external sources sharing to internal records management will be carried out, quick wins identified and implemented.
3. Work in close collaboration with counterparts to align activities and ensure a coherent approach to communications within FtMA
4. Develop communication strategies and content for FtMA Zambia, manage all communication channels and disseminate project activities and successes with internal and external partners.

6. Lead the organization of biannual Country Coordination Committees.
7. Conduct Field Missions to collect detailed needs assessment of target farmers and assist in the identification of opportunities to build further partnerships with other key value chain players on the ground.
8. Documentation of best practices, testimonials, successes, and field experiences in line with the project key objectives
Reporting
1. The incumbent will report to the FtMA Country Coordinator throughout the tenure, the staff will work in close coordination with global and country teams, and global alliance members.
Standard minimum qualifications
Education: Advanced University degree in Mass Communications, journalism, Public Relations Business administration, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience: At least Five years of experience in Media and communication Fields, either in private sector enterprises or in non-profit value chain related projects, with a strong exposure to the private sector. Experience in drafting media documents and liaising with stakeholders from the private and public sector. Experience with relevant and/or other humanitarian/development organizations or in the commercial agriculture or media fraternity.
Language: Fluency (oral and written) in English language .

• Strong relationship-management skills, with experience in coordinating between various stakeholders.

• Excellent drafting, communication and presentations skills in English.
• Experience in drafting high level documents; and/or liaising with legal counterparts in developing working documents. Editing experience in English desirable.
• Excellent analysis and computer skills, particularly in MS Office.
• Ability to work independently, establish priorities and monitor own work plan with minimum supervision in close coordination with the geographically diversified FtMA team.
• Solid operational skills including problem solving and project management skills, including ability to work and deliver projects proactively and under pressure.
• Good analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, and negotiating skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
