Environment Africa is a leading environmental organization committed to promoting sustainable development and conservation in Zambia.
Position Overview: Environment Africa is seeking a passionate and dynamic Communications and Advocacy Officer to be seconded to the Alliance for a Lead Free Kabwe in June 2024 on a one year contract. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in advancing the work of the Alliance for a Lead Free Kabwe by developing and implementing effective communication media and advocacy strategies
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans
• Create compelling content for various platforms including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and reports.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders.
• Lead the Alliance advocacy efforts to influence policy change at local, national, and international levels.
• Monitor and analyze media coverage and public opinion to inform strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with other networks working on reducing exposure to lead in Kabwe
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, environmental studies, or related field (Master’s degree will be an added advantage).
• Proven experience in communications, public relations, or advocacy, preferably within the environmental sector or working with a network.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing and social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in graphic design, photography, or video production will be an added advantage.
• Coordination of meetings and some admin work for the Alliance
