Communications and Business Services Officer
Overview

COMESA Business Council has signed a partnership agreement with the Federation of German Industries (BDI), an Umbrella Organisation of German Industry to promote inclusive private sector participation in COMESA through business development and member driven services, within the context of accelerating access to the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA).
Under the CBC- BDI partnership, we seek to recruit a Communications and Business Services Officer, to work under the Business Development Department. The incumbent will be performing the following duties:
• Strengthening of Communications and Business Services;
• Activating participation of CBC’s membership and stakeholders in sector working groups;
• Supporting the coordination of Workgroups to continuously contribute to CBC’s advocacy agenda at national, regional and international level;
• Increased visibility of the CBC.

Academic qualification:
Advanced degree (Master’s degree) in social sciences, communications, sales, public relations, or related qualifications.

Experience:
• A minimum of five years’ experience in the private sector and/or private sector engagement, working at a technical expertise level. Women applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Sound knowledge of information management techniques and tools for data collection, processing and dissemination based on the latest ICTs, including CMS/WordPress, marketing and communications principles, guidelines and best working practices.
• Excellent knowledge and skills in computer applications of MS Office.
• Competent in the use of desktop publishing software.

• Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
• Excellent Interpersonal and responsive skills in engaging stakeholders.

• Good communication skills, creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Language Requirements:
The official working language is English. Applicants with proficiency in written and spoken English and French will be given priority.
