Task/Assignment: Development of a Video Documentary of the SAfAIDS Regional Social Accountability Monitoring for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SAM4SRHR) Model
Location: Zambia
1. Background
SAfAIDS is a regional NGO amplifying Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), gender justice and human rights, towards achieving the SDGs; across the SADC region. Its Regional Office is domiciled in Zimbabwe, and has Country Offices in the Kingdom of Eswatini, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe with Country Focal Points in Lesotho and Malawi. SAfAIDS is a Trend-setter in promoting integrated effective and ethical development responses to SRHR, by enabling Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Resilience for All people in their recognised diversity; through collaboration with State and non-State actors at policy, service delivery and community levels.
SAfAIDS Zambia Country Office, in implementing the National component of the Social Accountability Monitoring for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SAM4SRHR) Model in the Regional Transformaing Lives Programme, is seeking services of an experienced and highly-skilled team of professionals, to produce a video documentary on learning from the Model.
2. Purpose and Scope of the Consultancy
2.1 Purpose: To produce a video documentary that demonstrates clear lessons, impact and results, that can be adopted by other citizen engagement programmes; from the innovative implementation of the SAM4SRHR Model for adolescent and young people’s SRH service access, in Zambia.
2.2 Scope of the Consultancy
The output title is “Scaling-up Young People’s Access to SRH Services through Innovative m-Health: The SAM4SRHR Model”. The video will be 6-8 minutes, inclusive of opening shots and credits, in English with subtitles provided for sections where vernacular languages are orated.
This will reflect explicit learning, change and outcomes from the SAM4SRHR Model at (i) National level, including Core Elements: Capability strengthening, MobiSAfAIDS App, SAM4SRHR Youth Champs leading advocacy on AYSRH service access, CSO and Health Facility collaboration, Advocacy actions using SAM evidence with Local Actors (health service providers, local Government, Parliamentarians), and other Elements; applied under Pillar 3 pilot component of SAfAIDS Regional Transforming Lives programme; and (ii) Direct link upward flow to inform regional policy advocacy by the Regional SRHR Youth Accountability and Advocacy Alliance (YAAA!). Human interest and success stories will be key to the above.
SAfAIDS will provide the Consultant with the script for the narrator (based on secondary data evidence) and documentary imagery and sample (interviews) to be included. The Consultant will take “B” shots as backup, for use during the documentary edit cuts and finalization.
The documentation team will observe COVID-19 prevention measures during the assignment, where physical interaction will be required with interviewees.
3. Key Deliverables
The following are the key deliverables for this Assignment:
• Documentation schedule
• Co-identification and selection of success stories and interviewees
• Video recordings and “B” shots
• Final delivery of documentary to SAfAIDS in agreed format, and having incorporated inputs from earlier draft
4. Expert Qualifications and Experience
Applying professionals and firms, must have:
• Experience and professional knowledge of, sexual and reproductive health and rights, with an added understanding of citizen engagement matters
• History of successful SRHR-related innovative and virtually-engaging advocacy materials and audiovisual products
• Experience in digital-visual story-telling, particularly focusing on SRH, Gender, Health and policy advocacy
• Credible samples of similar assignments, previously completed
