Job description:
Provide Technical Support to the Blasting Operations Team(s) and oversight to all Blasting activities as well as to ensure compliance to established policies, practices and procedures when completing work assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Performance
• Under limited supervision by the Drill and Blast Superintendent coordinates the drill and blast operations to achieve the daily/monthly production targets
• Ensure blasting team is aligned with weekly targets
• Monitor availability of resources for blasting (blasting accessories, loaders, MMUs)
• Ensure proper resources allocation and utilization
• Perform daily reviews on compliance to weekly plan.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks
Ensures production performance risks are minimised by eliminating SHEQ and asset risks
• Setup team training needs and schedule as need arises.
• Ensure compliance to all legal appointments.
• Perform weekly checks on logbooks and ensure compliance.
• Maintain a high standard in ensuring that the working environment is safe, clean and environmentally friendly.
• Conducts daily SHEQ reviews and audits and ensures others adhere to the same.
• Drive ‘THINK’ coach campaign within the section.
Provide leadership to the team
• Setup quarterly goals for mine captains in line with business needs/optimization.
• Perform assessment appraisal and provide feedback for mine captains.
• Provides coaching for direct subordinates to enable them to improve their performance.
• Boost team morale and enhance team building by ensuring that there is a shared value system in production that leads to high levels of commitment to the goals of the project.

Qualifications
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
• Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering or Equivalent
• Blasting License holder
• First Aid certificate holder
• Valid Driver’s Licence
• Member of EIZ
Experience
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting aids
Work Hours: 8
Experience in Months: 120
Level of Education: Associate Degree
